    So I made this. It oozes out of the sides where the twist off to refill is. any hints on how to fix this? thank you!

  • @coloringqueen

    @coloringqueen

    Жыл бұрын

    Sounds like there's a problem with your refill pen. If you used a discount brand from the discount shops maybe try either an empty copic pen (you can buy them empty) or a brand name refill pen. It sounds like yours has a problem with the screw top not sealing correctly. A cheap fix may be some waterproof tape around it as well or alternatively just put in a jar and use a little paintbrush to apply. Lots of options, hope one works for you! Happy coloring x

    ikr the amount that I've got, I'll be sparkling forever! So cheap too plus so many experiments - eg adding ink, alcohol, acrylic paints, micro glitter - what would happen? I'd love to know but I'm weird like that lol. Have fun!

    I love watching your how-to videos. I love watching all your videos. Your how-to ideas are great. My favorites are the one on the Tombow blender and this one. Even if this material is readily available, it is nice to have it in any color you want, and not something I would have on hand. Thank you again for all your hard work and great ideas.

    mmm I really must do my proper Tombow review one day...better put it on my list lol. The wink of stella is probably more readily available in your neck of woods than in mine, and cheaper in comparison. If I used my wink as much as I would like to, I'd go broke buying the stuff or heaven forbid I'd have to forgo my bunny books :( This way I can save a few little bits of bunny money and make any color I fancy (although I personally think plain is just fine). Happy coloring and thank you x

    Hi Lea! I never knew iridescent medium existed, but then my art knowledge is pretty limited to the nearly three years that I have been adult coloring. I do want to get some now though. I always want to save my wink of stella for "special" pictures because I don't want to run out. This seems like it would definitely last quite a lot longer. Thanks for sharing your wonderful ideas with us!

    Thank you for this video. I’m going to be attempting to make Wink of Stella pens with a bunch of inks I got on clearance at Hobby Lobby with extra fine glitters. Just have to get the recipe right as I plan on adding gum arabic and glycerin to it too. Should be fun experimenting. Lol.

    I love these experiments! I wish I had done these at Uni than the science experiments we did do! I have got my micro fine glitters to play with as well but my limited playing suggests you need a bead or a little ball bearing in the brush to prevent it all sinking to the end. I have stolen some from my hubby's tool box to further my experiments on stopping the glitter all clogging up lol. Enjoy your experiments! Happy coloring x

    I have most of the Wink of Stella Glitter Brush Pens and they have served me well. However, some of them are running out now. I have watered them down with..er..water but it makes the ink less glittery, which I suppose I expected. I do want to keep these pens once they run out completely as I like the brushes and they are expensive to replace. What I would like to do - ultimately - is replace all the inks with new ones using a pipette to get new ink into them. Question is, what type of ink do I choose? There are so many different types I'm frightened to choose one just in case it's not suitable for whatever reason. Any suggestions? Your input would be invaluable to me, thanks in advance.

    Always test on a spare page as we all have different techniques, ie some people press harder than others. Also there are a number of different types of paper and all react differently to wet mediums, particularly if they are not designed for that purpose. Happy coloring x

    Hi Lea, yes the medium is so much cheaper. Your could also use mod podge, cheap metallic eye shadow, and water for those who don't have access to the iridescent medium. And please don't be hurt or offended by my asking but have you gotten that splotch of color on your right hand looked at? Just said a little prayer for you as I've had to do some recent research for myself and felt the need to comment. Hope all is well and concern is for nothing. Love from Texas USA😉

    So many diy hacks with art that we can enjoy! The "splotch" is a scar from a third degree burn that was on my whole hand. After 20 years ...this is a lot smaller than it was previously. I am not offended at all, I've mentioned it before on video - it's just one of life's battle wounds :) Happy coloring x

    Coloring Queen oh I'm so glad, and thank you for answering. This was the first video I watched, great channel. I had a bad burn once and discovered myrrh oil, it is amazing, FYI. Yours must've hurt like the dickens! Anyway, have a great day, happy all us well 😉

  • @coloringqueen

    It certainly hurt. I remember sleeping with my hand in a jar of ice. I've got a high pain tolerance though so it was a few days before I went to the doctor. He was pretty amazed that I could wait so long lol. I had to get it dressed every day. Luckily a friend introduced me to real lavender oil (not the cheap stuff from discount shops). I rubbed it on the area while it was healing each night. I always think if I had discovered it earlier the splotch would have disappeared as the rest of the scar did but unfortunately, that was not the case. After 20 years that splotch is still sensitive to the touch. I haven't tried myrrh oil but I'll certainly look out for it as these essential oils are great to have on hand (lol). I hope that you have seen a health professional about the problem that you were researching and all is well with you. Happy coloring x
