This macrame basket is a super fun macrame project. It's very similar to making a coaster except that you have to bring the walls up. Tucking away all the cords at the end is a bit more work as well. Follow this step-by-step diy macrame basket tutorial to have a beautiful macrame home decor piece for you or as a gift.

Start the base:
1 @ 5meters (filler cord)
3 @ 2.5m
Round 1
3 @ 2.5m

Thanks for the tutorial. It's really very good. Have you ever made this in a larger size? I'm thinking about 12 inches across the bottom. How long would you cut the cords?

@@pattyclampitt2884 Thank you for the feedback. I haven’t tried to make it bigger yet. I would be tempted to use a much thicker cord, like 8mm. You’d have to adjust the cord lengths… probably double them. I think that would pretty much double the size. I hope that helps.
