I want to make this as a placemat design. Instead of a hoop do you think I could use a crochet hook for attach the macrame cord to a round rope placemat (zigzag stitch the cord to the size I need)? Or do I need to use a hoop?

1 inch = 2.54 cm You can easily convert the measurements given in the video into cm on google
