You can definitely cut this in 1/2 for 1 or 2 people or you can increase it if you have more people in your family!
I hope sharing this recipe (ingredients & prices) that I use to make my diy homemade detergent for my wonderful family helps you save money.
Please let us know in the comments if you try it & how you like it!

    Hey guys the total cost is wrong at the end of the video. It was actually closer to about $34.77 because I only used 1 box of Borax & 1 box of Super Washing Soda in this recipe. Sorry for the error!

    I'm actually surprised you didn't add powder bleach or oxy for whites, that makes a huge difference! Either way, I never thought to make a separate batch for whites, thank you for the great tips!

    We still use bleach in our white loads. I used to coupon & we have a ton of clorox that we have to use up. But I agree those would be great additions!

    Hey Parys! That's a good idea & I know some people do it that way. I just prefer not to use my blender or food processor for the soap. Since I haven't had an issue with this method, I stick to it. I appreciate the suggestion though! Thanks for watching 😊

    Hello Howard! Yes you can absolutely use liquid bleach with this recipe. I always add it to my white loads. You can also use color safe bleach in your colored loads. They are a fantastic addition to use in your laundry!!

    Can I add the Roma to the first mixture with colors along with everything else that’s in the batch or will the Roma fade the color clothes? Ty❤️

  • @ballardsbydesign

    Yes you can. It won't fade your clothes. There's no bleach in it. It's great for very soiled clothes to make them brighter & fresher.

    I have made the recipe with the zote soap I have been researching and thinking about making it with foca or Roma is it a better recipe ?

  • @ballardsbydesign

    @ballardsbydesign

    Жыл бұрын

    I love Roma in this recipe Amanda! To me, it balances out the soap & adds more cleansing power! Soap alone can be heavy but using detergents as well help breakdown the dirt & oils so they can be washed away. Roma brightens your clothes & helps them look vibrant. Roma & Foca are both great options in diy detergents!

    Being that you had to use small bags or the Roma since the big ones weren't available, what is the exact recipe you usually use? If the Zote flakes aren't in stock how many Zote Bars should I use? What is the amount of the mixture you use per load?

  • @ballardsbydesign

    @ballardsbydesign

    Жыл бұрын

    So the largest bag of Roma is about 11 lbs & just follow this same recipe. As far as the zote bars I'd say maybe 4 or 5 bars in place of the flakes. Since I use this in my white loads I normally do 1/4 cup along with a cup of bleach.
