DIY Laminate Flooring - My first DIY floor installation
Listen, sis, if there's something you want to do, JUST DO IT! I'm so f'ing proud of myself. I swear I was stressing about how to do this floor when I thought about redoing this closet. I sent on #KZreadUniversity and found the first video from @homedepot, and I kid you not it was like a quick 5 minute video on how to do this. When I watched it, I was like "omg is that easy? "... hell yeah, I can f'king do this! And let me tell you one thing about me. If I think I can ...I can and I will. I'm gonna arm myself with the knowledge on how to and get it done. So if you're thinking about this you can.
Laying this floor was quick and easy. It took a #newbie like me 90 minutes to this by myself.
Tools I used and think you should have for your project:
Underlayment (should be based on your subfloor)
Laminate ( this one is Mohawk Revwood Kingmire Chestnut )
Instaform profile (transition strip from flooring to tile)
Hammer/ mallet
Laminate floor kit (I got mine from @homedepot) it includes the wedges spacer, steel pull bar, and tapping block
Saw or laminte floor cutter (I recommend saw it has more uses)
Painters tape (optional)
Tape Measure (optional)
Let's go start that #diyproject. You go this💪🏾😘

I seen so many people try and act like it’s so complicated but you made it seem easy I’m about to install some right now

I thought the same thing too. I think it gets tricking when doing stairs but a room is so easy. One day I'll try my basement stairs😤

If you’re just doing a tiny room and you start off an outside wall it is this easy but if you’re doing a whole house transitioning from multiple rooms it’s a bit more complicated.

That’s because she’s actually using. It looks like an engineered wood flooring not a LVP, which is vinyl planks that already have the underlay attached to the bottom. Very different

this video shows a woman doing a very small amount of flooring, it doesn’t particularly show how “women can do this too”. This comment is purely idiotic and you can get the same “information” from a guy doing the same exact thing.
Is it hard to cut the laminate?
How much did it cost please?
LVP will not expand if you open the boxes in the space and let the material acclimate to the space.
is that a foam underlayment?
What about if ur subfloors are aweful?
What is that shiny black at the bottom?
May I ask where did you get the laminated floor padding? My husband and I just got a house and I want to pull out the carpets in the rooms

What tool do you use to cut the laminate to size:)
@TheCunninghamFamily_
9 ай бұрын
I used a stated with a very sharp box cutter but started using the saw because it was faster. You can use a box cutter (heavy-duty kind), table saw, miter saw, circular saw, hand saw or laminate cutter to get it done. They aren't hard to cut at all.
About how much did it cost? I’m thinking of doing our living room and 3 bedrooms 😭
@TheCunninghamFamily_
3 ай бұрын
Hi, the cost depends on which flooring you get. I'm looking to do my bedroom, which is about 450sq ft, and is priced at $960+ right now🥴. I wanted to do all of upstairs but if that's one room😭

It’s easy until you get difficult cuts. A square room is so easy. All you have to do it is cut the ends . Straight cuts

I think I can do this but unsure. I don't want to mess anything up. I paid for bamboo wood flooring to be installed in my home. Home Depot came out said my floors were uneven and they couldn't do. In actuality they just didn't want to do it. My floors are not uneven. I had them checked. So disappointed. However, I sent all materials back. Now here I am still with carpet in my home, and needing to get it out. If I buy the materials for the laminate floors I wonder can I install it, and how to install it so you don't see the seems at the entry and closet areas. You did a great job!
