The DIY tips were practical and easy to follow, and I appreciated the budget-friendly ideas they shared. It's amazing how a few design tweaks can completely elevate the look and feel of a kitchen.

The designer in me agrees with the even overhang for the shelves, but visually with the VJ panelling it totally made sense to line it up to the centre of the VJ panels haha. There's a lot of strong vertical lines so I don't think you would notice the horizontal shelf overhang being slightly uneven.

Your parents in law are very fortunate to have a dedicated couple working for their benefit. The home they have obviously lived in for many years is being re-purposed for an older couple to enjoy well into their retirement.

How did I miss this kitchen video? Watching out of sequence and I love it. Re-using that existing glazed door makes a MASSIVE difference as it lets in so much light. Raising the height of the stove alcove also makes a huge difference. No more head banging. Am surprised you didn't include a coffee station where the toaster is. Everyone seems to have them these days. Love the use of some open shelving to display nostalgic bits and pieces.

Such an incredible transformation and so thoughtfully designed😍

Dreamy! As usual, you guys rock! We did a similar thing as your breakfast area with recessed upper cabinets. Must admit i was a bit sceptical at first about the curved detail above the range. But it nicely harkens back to the old kitchen and looks fantastic - both aesthetically pleasing and utilitarian. Designing kitchens is the most fun!

Thank you! We didn't film their reaction as it was all a bit chaotic over xmas and some of the house wasn't finished... BUT they absolutely love it and Jonno's mum loves her new kitchen which was most important!

I found for my kitchen. Bunnings quoted $4200 for benchtops when IKEA quoted $1200.

We hadour own bench tops made up locally with Caesarstone. ⚡️ Really depends on the material as to what the final cost will be.

I'm in the US and I don't understand why the ovens are in little holes in the wall! That seems very inconvenient. Is there a reason or is it just how it is? I love your videos and your cute personalities. ❤ Thanks for sharing this fabulous process and beautiful results! Love the tours you do of other fancy houses, too.

It was removed and rebuilt to have more head clearance.

Gorgeous design! I wasn’t sure about all the mixed gold and brass at first but it really works in this kitchen. Can I ask why you decided to lay new floor on top of the old wooden floor? Was it too old/damaged to be sanded down and refinished?

Thanks! The old floors were refinished 20 Years ago. But full of bora holes and quite damaged. Was time for a fresh start! ⚡️

Very beautiful kitchen with so much storage! The only thing I don't like is that fridge/freezer jutting out. I think it would have been so much more beautiful if it was built-in. Alternatively the cupboards and appliance could have had the same depth, and that would have made it less of an eyesore.

Both have their challenges. Just different planning and scope needed if you are starting from scratch or retrofitting. ⚡️

you gutted the whole kitchen and you didn't make any countertop next to the stove?!?!?!?!?!?! Obviously your kitchen- your choice but I would be so pissed carrying all the time food from a far away countertop to the stove through the kitchen.
