    Sir,....You have the VERY BEST mod ideas!!! Time and time again!! One of the neatest of your VERY SIMPLE ideas was to have the steering cables come together at a short distance from the troller,...THEN fan out!! Thus, a much greater range of troller rotational travel!! Simple idea BUT A FABULOUS ONE!! THANK YOU FOR SO MANY OF YOUR OTHER GREAT MODS AS WELL!!!!

    Very usful information and well explained. Watched alot of your videos and wanted to say thanks for the time and effort you put into your tutorials. I fish out of a X FACTOR and Predator PDL now and regret selling my Frontier 12 now. You gave me many new ideas and one of them is to look out for a F12 on Craigslist and add it to my arsenal . Thanks again

    Simple design. Have you determined the optimal eye bolt length from the center of the motor shaft that gives you the best turning radius? To me it looks like if the center of the eye bolt was 6" from the center of the shaft, you'd have to pull your cable 6" forward to get the motor to turn to a 45 degree angle. I think if your eye bolts were angled back on a 45, you could double the motor angle with the same pull. Have you experimented with any of his yet? I'm in the planning stages with steering being an issue since I can't use foot controls.

    The eyebolt length on that design is based on a 1/4 - 20 off the shelf size. Some people have bent the arms at 45 degrees with success. I ran my steering cables through an eyebolt mounted in front of the shaft on the centerline. That gave me almost a full 90 degree turning radius.

    @@Aksmaniyak nice idea, adding the eyebolt on the centerline to help turning angle.

    Do you have a video of how you ran the steering cables? Just curious I've been debating adding a motor to my yak and after seeing some of your mods I'm excited to get to it this winter!

    Yes, I have shown how to run the cables. I have done it on several kayaks so just check the video titles for one that might work best for you. Let me know if I can help narrow down your search.

    Im not sure why you need to rethread the turn buckles if each one has a right and a left hand thread, why not just use the right thread side of each turnbuckle? That way the two left hand thread ends are left as they are since it doesnt matter what thread they are

  • @Aksmaniyak

    @Aksmaniyak

    2 ай бұрын

    You could, but it is much simpler to have all the threads matching if you need to break it down or replace parts.

    How do you keep this from rusting? I'm considering covering it all with some 'rubber' paint once fitted correctly. My total cost on this was ~$16, about half what the plastic ones on Amazon go for, thanks for the idea!!

  • @Aksmaniyak

    You are welcome Jonathan. It shouldn't rust since the turnbuckle body is aluminum and the eye bolts and hardware are stainless.
