Nicely done. The advice about checking center line I had heard from a kayak builder. And yours looks great. Thanks for sharing.

Great video! I've always loved the Heritage Featherlite and wanting one, Thankfully Academy sells them still. I was just thinking it would be an even better lil yak if it had hatches forward and aft. Your video has inspired me! Thank you!

Hi, I am looking for replacement of my Hobie twist and seal hatch due to quite big leakage and I found on e-bay the same hatch as the one from your video (the same logo on the top). I was wondering if you are satisfied from it? I mean if there is some leakage. Thanks in advance.

You're braver than I am!! As much as I want to install a 6" dry hatch for my keys, camera, snack, etc, I just don't have the guts to do it. I have a 2001 Perception Carolina 13.5'. Bought it new and it has been with me for 15 years now! If I damaged her trying to modify her, I don't think I could live with myself!! :)

I know what you mean! It's why I didn't use a power saw. Took a little more effort to use the hand saw blade but more control and less likely to oooops. If you do try it, use a brand new drill bit and don't press into it. Try it in the very center first to get a feel for it. I've patched holes and modified before--but there is always a first time--and that always leads to more! I cut a bigger hole last week and dropped a modified cooler into the back of it--love it. Let me know if you try it and have questions--would be glad to help. It's really not that hard.

I remember in the 80's I cut a hole for a sun roof in a Toyota Celica. I gritted my teeth. I thought small sun roof and if I made a mistake go buy the bigger size...lol. It worked out great. Being a young kid making $150 a week and cutting a hole in a car roof is scary.

LOL! Don't know if I'd have enough nerve to cut a hole in the roof of a vehicle! Must have been an awesome sunroof!

Ok thanks. My Hatch and dag are the most stupidest way to connect a bag and hatch.

Is this a Beckson Hatch? If so why doesn't anybody ever show how to attach the bag to the hatch. There is not one video on you tube that does that....why the f not?I just baught a Beckson hatch for my kayak and it blows my mind that you have to glue the ring that holds the bag to the actual hatch itself. You would think that the ring would sit inside the hatch then you put the red bag in it then screw the lid of the hatch down and that would keep the dag snug and tight inside the hatch. Its absolutely stupid to have to glue it to the undercarriage of the hatch . The Hatch was $20 and the bag was $20 so I spent $40 plus dollars and now I also have to now buy adhesive or some type of glue to make this hatch work. Are you kidding me. please show us the process of attaching the damn bag to the fricken hatch.

Hi Mike, the bag for this hatch drops in with the small cut out area of one plastic ring lining up the the small equal matching outy piece on the other ring. I've taken it out and machine washed it LOL It pops in and out in seconds and stays secure with no glue.
