DIY - Installing Fender Locking tuners... plugging holes & proper alignment is not that hard to do.

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Installing Fender Locking Tuners is usually a easy DIY job - however, for this installation, the old alignment holes had to be plugged and new holes drilled. It involves a little more work, but with a little preparation and patience, a good result can be had. This Squier Deluxe Stratocaster will benefit from the tuning ease and stability from these new tuners and the end result is very satisfying for the "do-it-yourselfer". Enjoy the video and thanks for watching!

Thank you for this video, I broke one of the stock tuners on my Squier Telecaster and I got a set of Fender non locking tuners and of course the guide dimples were off, this video enabled me to successfully change them, easy to follow and made me confident that I could do this, the d through high e posts seemed really small to the point were you couldn't wind more than once but thankfully it worked, great video and thanks again🙂

I have had good luck installing Hipshot locking tuners on a few guitars. Because they come with the "universal mounting plates" they go on easily without the need to drill additional holes. Or fill holes.

Just bought some new fender locking tuners to replace a set on my custom Strat and I'm facing this exact issue (I even checked before buying to make sure it was a 'fender style' tuner setup... but alas, off by a millimetre or two). Guess I have some work ahead of me still. Thanks for the great instructional video.

I bought a walnut 70s style Stratocaster. The bridge is not that good and neither are the machine hands. It’s got the big head stock. The guitar is worn out and I think a gold bridge and a gold Trauner arm with gold hardware will really look cool on this guitar. I watched your video and it was super cool thank you so much now I know how to drill, pen holes, thanks for the video. Have a great day love it I’ve been playing guitar for several years. Like almost 50 I have some knowledge of working on them but now I’m getting more into learning how to work on them. I’ve learned one thing nice tools help a lot. Thanks again. Have a great day.👍🏼👍🏼😁😁😎🎸🎼 and 🎶🎵☮️🎸

I sure enjoyed watching your work & craftmanship Sir..... I came across a (( "Starcaster" by "Fender" )) , It has a wonder feel & great neck , I'm just wondering if I can make these tuners work for it ? It really does play wonderful & I think once I change out the pickups & electronics it will be a nice replacement for my old Strat that was stolen many years ago.. I do miss it , but it-is-what-it-is.... Thank You for such a well made video & stay blessed...

Thanks, Danny. Remove one of your exisitng tuners and measure the tumig peg hole then check the spec of the new tuners you want to get. The dia of the hole is the most important thing, it is relatively easy to plug small screw holes if required. I hope you have subscribed to my channel?

You think someone at Fender would have had the smarts to design the new locking tuners with the bump for the indents in the same locations as the original tuners. It shouldn’t have been that hard for someone on their design team to make it happen.

My Tele clone has locking tuners on it already but I’m changing strings some time next week when they arrive, I’ve gone to Slinky’s the same as Angus uses. After seeing your other video I ordered what was advertised as a lefty tremolo but I suspect it isn’t, and I’m going to have to modify it to work for me, which I can do, it’s only metal, so I’ll sort it. I’m thinking however I’ll use it on another Tele I’m planning on building, as a bit of a tester, it’s in a relic style so if a tremolo looks a bit weird, it’s not going to matter much, and if I like it, I’ll buy a Bixby lefty for my super Tele I’m planning to build, and looking at parts for now. So lots of fun.

That's the stupidest reasoning I've ever heard. Would you just get a whole new vehicle bc you replaced the tires on the one you currently have? It's quite possible there isn't a guitar that comes exactly as a person wants it. I've replaced many parts on my strat, they're built to be customized by the user.
