I've found that you don't need to split the pegs holding the axle in but instead apply slight pressure from underneath on both sides it'll just pop out w/o damaging those holding pegs. I use a real thin precision type screwdriver since it doesn't take much to pop out.

Cool video. I usually use the small bit to start a pilot hole for tapping later. Then a 9/64 bit to pop the rivet. It’s slightly larger, but gives a clean pop on that rivet in most cases.

Did the exatc same swap a few months ago they fit like a glove on that car Just makes it perfect plus cant go wrong with 10spokes they look good on almost every casting

I dont recommended using sharp bit like that it is for wood. A standard drill bit works great and sits center of the rivet

I also use a little bit of oil on the bit it helps the drilling part and makes your drill bit last longer

Premium castings are the same process, but expect more drilling as the metal base take a bit longer to free up from the body

Yes I did experienced the drilling process especially because the base of Zonda is a bit...different. But I'm glad that I have perhaps the Ultimate Hot Wheels Zonda (well now the title goes to the NFT one I guess)@@DieCashCars

Very cool! I just got into wheel swapping about a month ago. I did great on a few without re-riveting, but have also messed up on a couple. A few questions and your tips would be greatly appreciated. Are those screws you used available at any hardware store? Do the axles from Mattel’s Real Riders fit the length for all HWs? I purchased a box of riders from elsewhere online and most of them don’t fit the length of the HWs. Keep up the great vids!

They might be available at a large hardware store, I got mine off Amazon. Like I showed in the video, you will have to check if the Hot Wheels axles will work on the cast you want to swap them onto…lengths aren’t all the same. Appreciate it 👍

I feel like you should mention that you should practice on an unwanted casting first to get in some practice. Interesting. This casting was my favourite of 22 too. Didn’t know about the voting.

That’s good advice, definitely want to be comfortable drilling before doing it on nicer casts!

I think the white Zonda needs a wheel swap as well. imo the yellow spokes don't flow well on the white

So, these premium wheels are only meant for basic cars since premium cars have metal bases?

If you push on the windshield, it’ll pop the base off most of the time; no need for screwdriver to pry

Because it's far cheaper and easier to mass produce cars when you can use a machine press to do thousands of rivets per minute
