DIY - How to Refill Miele Powerdisks.

*Now Audio Free, for Your Convenience*
I have tried multiple methods and this is the easiest and lowest cost (it just uses some tape each refill) that I have found so far.
I have found that T-Rex brand tape works well and I am sure others will work just as well, but some may fail since all tape is not made the same.
I have been using Cascade Commercial powder detergent with good results.
How to refill Miele PowerDisks:
1) Drill hole in the side (shown in video) of an empty PowerDisk.
2) Insert funnel.
3) Pour your choice of powder dish detergent(s) until around 3/4 full.
4) Cover hole well with strong tape.
5) Enjoy a full powerdisk!
Please let me know if you find any better ways or detergents!

Yeah, hang on to those. I got 6 "free" when I bought my washer and still have 4 of them. They were asking $20 a pop at my local store, I am glad I figured out how to refill for pennies!

And another successful refill, this time using Aldi (Australia) Logix dishwasher powder - that's 8 cents (AUD) per wash 🙂

Stupid Question: why have you drilled the Hole from the Side and not in the bottom of the Disk? A Colleague in Switzerland made it so. The problem with this Method is the Storage if you refill a few Disks at once. You need to close the other Hole carefully with Aluminum-Tape to protect the Powder from Humidity.

I chose to drill the side and not the back to aid in filling. The back would work as well, depending on the fill method. I would recommend not using aluminum tape as my experience is that it doesn't adhere or have enough flexibility to provide a good enough seal, especially when exposed to the heat in a dishwasher. I have been using T-rex tape (duct tape on steroids) without any issues with sealing or coming off. Also, keep in mind, that the factory hole is always open and exposed to the environment inside the power disk chamber.

To save $45/cartridge I think this is a great idea. I can't beliege nobody sells a drop in replacement with an easy to open refill door.

There will be at some point I am sure. These are relatively new to the market (released around mid 2020 I believe) and very niche, so it's high-hanging fruit at the moment. There is enough clearance to add a solid cover to an existing disk. Alternatively, the disks could be 3D scanned/printed fairly easily with the correct equipment. If I ever get around to acquiring said equipment this will definitely be on my things to do!

Thank you for the video! My tape wasn’t strong enough and now the error F600 is coming up due to clogging of the auto dos. Do you by any chance have experience this? I tried vacuum the opening but the error came back…

You can try pouring some warm water down the channel (slowly) and it should clear any powder that is clogged. There is a little door at the bottom of the channel that opens/closes as needed and this getting hung up can cause the error.

Does the refill power need to contain rinse-aid like miele says its powder contains? Or will the dishwasher simply use the liquid rinse aid in the manual reservoir ?

My model has a rinse aid container that is separate from the powder. I have not experienced any issues with cleaning or leaving water spots on my dishes and the water is fairly hard in this city.

Perhaps try some of the Cascade Professional powder; that is what I have been using and have had good results when compared to the Miele powder.
