Nice bro that’s one of our favorite brooms we’ve been using those for over 15 years they use to sell in San Fernando off of the 2fwy and they recently started selling a few years back at Rosborough Hubs white cap etc Marshall town also had them with memory bristles when out in hot water

The color is a liquid that is added to the mixer at the redimix plant. Depending on what color, it can range from $40yd-$200yd and upward.

Good call on specifying no fly ash. I specify no fly ash on all my concrete. I have noticed a lot more random cracking ever since fly ash was introduced. When it was first introduced into concrete it was a way for steel companies to get rid of it. Then the "green movement" came and like everything they do, they f***Ed up concrete. Some municipalities require 20% fly ash!!!!! You can't tell me that loosing 20% volume of mud/aggregate (especially mud) makes your concrete as good as it was before when there was no fly ash. The idea to add fly ash to concrete was a a answer to the coal/steel Industry on what they would do with the MOUNTAINS of fly ash they had left over that had. Uilt up over the last hundred years. The easiest answer was to add some to concrete which would encapsulate the fly ash (which is technically inert). They had problems with fly ash blowing out of their pits and were getting in trouble by the EPA. Adding fly ash to concrete was the concrete was the compromise. Some municipalities will not let you remove the fly ash. If you can, ALWAYS spec NO FLY ASH. The concrete companies are happy to add it, they get paid to take it. Make concrete way cheaper for them to produce.

have any of you been around long enough that you recall doing gas station pump driveway topping mixes that were several inches thick that sodium silicate was mixed in to the batch in the truck.. then some color .. and then laid.. the surface was oil resistant.. gasoline resistant.. is there a mix for this still..

I hear so many people say that. I'm a third generation concretor from PA and we always steel trowel, if not the finish isn't nearly as nice. We dnt have a problem, seems to me it depends on the quality of concrete and the salt and calcium used to de ice

Exactly right. You’ll trap the bleed water causing the surface to pop and peal. We wait for the bleed water to evaporate then Fresno. Harder to Fresno when that tight but better quality. Without air entrainment this may not be an issue.

I also was wondering about using the frezno on a broom finish, in niagara falls I've seen guys jus bullfloat it cuz they say using the frezno traps bleed water in and leaves for a weaker surface .. seems like it makes sence to me but then again you are in cali so you don't have to deal with the climate change . Anthony you and your guys do great work I'm sure you will here from me in the summer if that's cool.

You can buy the color it's a powder and mix it in the concrete. Google Davis concrete colors 👍

@@WestCoastCustomConcrete dam! would you say 10-16 is an OC thing? im out in san bernadino county. last time i did a job was about $5/sf for plain grey broomed, $7-8/sf if you wanted texture stamping with curvy lined control joints. Pattern stamping 9-12/sf. this was 2010. TIA. Excellent work brother!
