Mr. Rain reminds me of my Grandfather. Both are very clever men. My Grandmother would give Grandfather an idea of what she wanted and he would say "It can't be done." She would say "If anyone can do it, you can." Encouragement and faith in someone.... always a good idea. 👍👍

It's so cool to see this kind of ingenuity it makes me happy. But I did get a laugh out of seeing a manly shop drill making holes in innocent, defenseless cardboard that never did anything to YOU, Patrick! That was a great watering setup for those adorable fluffballs! It just does my heart good that you both can be so unflappable and creative and INDEPENDENT in these things instead of rushing off to buy the typical accoutrements of chick raising!

Now THAT's what I call BUSHCRAFTING!!! hah ... I don't know why this struck me so funny, but I sure got a kick out of *"so they can stick their little heads in"*. That lends a whole new definition to *"I love chicken"*! I got another little peek at Mr. Rain's heart. My dad always used to say: *"Necessity is the mother of invention"*. What even makes this video more perfect for me is hearing the mandolin, which was my dad's second favorite instrument, second only to his beloved violin. Heidi ... I wonder if little chicks could drink out of those hanging waterers with the ball bearing in? You know ... like the ones you would put in a bunny or hamster cage? Mr. Rain... How are you coming along on that cloning?

I am happy to see that you got Orpington chicks, I hope that you enjoy them as much as I do. I will be getting some chicks in June to add to the ones (2 adult 3 year old hens) that I have now that are getting to the age that they are not laying enough eggs anymore. Plus, in this batch of chicks I am going to get a rooster and 4 guineas. I am going to make a PVC pipe NIPPLE WATERER set up and a PVC pipe type of feed station. Loved your demo on a cardboard feeder, that is cool and a great way to recycle. Enjoy your babies!

Of course we can, the thing was we did not want to pay the high prices they had for cheap plastic ones. Keep in mind this video is two years old and when we were able to get into town the next time and find galvanized feeders for a lower cost than the plastic ones so we would have them next time we got chicks, we bought those but this cardboard one held up and worked great the whole time the chicks shown here needed them.
