Hey, just a question. The description says 40 cm metal hoop but the link says 30 cm. Just wanting to know which one I should get?

I really want to make more tutorials but work is hectic atm but that’s made my day, thank you! ☺️ If I’m honest I’m not sure, you will have to do a lot more knots using 3mm to get the same length and design of the 5mm cord. So if it were me I’d probably add on 160-200cm just to be sure I have enough, you’d always rather have too much cord than not enough. Obviously you don’t need to add that much length onto the wrapping cords though! Hope that helps you somehow ☺️ let me know how it turns out!

Hi, the 75cm is the length of the finished product, from the top of the small hoop you use to hang it from, to the bottom of the bed (excluding the fringe like you asked) ☺️

Hello! I’m adding my last hoop to the bottom and for some reason it won’t go on evenly. The hoop itself is level but it’s making my square knots above look lopsided on one side. Any ideas what’s causing this?

If I’m honest I remember mine looked a little lopsided too, not sure if that comes up on the video. Could be due to the tension of the knots being tighter on one side or slightly shorter gaps in between the rows on one side etc. But I do remember thinking mine looked a little lopsided but I think it’s fine once it’s hanging up and has a blanket etc in! I’m sure you’re cat won’t mind either, it’s handmade with love after all 😋

Great video! I'm going to use 48cm hoops for my big cat. Will the lengths needed change much? I know the pieces needed to wrap the hoops will be the biggest change, but what about the other pieces? Or maybe I need to add more pieces for the basket part of it?

Thank you! Yes you’re right, you’ll need to increase the length of the cords that wrap around the hoops and also add more cords onto the hoop to form the basket. Otherwise the gaps in the basket will be a bit too big and it may become a bit flimsy! Let me know how it turns out 😊

Are the measurements precise? Don't need to add extra lengths?

Hi, I don’t have the bed anymore as it was a gift for a friend so I can’t measure it but my estimate is probably about 22-25cm ☺️

Would the length of cord be the same if using 3mm?

I’d recommend adding more length onto each measurement as the knots you make using 3mm will use up more cord to get the same measurements and dimensions that the cat bed is ☺️ I wouldn’t know exactly how much to add on as there’s no formula for it but maybe 100cm to try and be sure? Or add more if you want to be sure but you might have a lot leftover but it’s better to have that than not enough cord ☺️

It all depends if I’m honest! I would work out how much the materials would cost you in total and then work out how long it will take you to make so you can figure out what hourly amount you want to charge for your time and then add that up 😊
