I know this probably sounds stupid, but to me the idea of putting oil and then heat on the hair. It just makes me think that surely the heat is just going to make the heat boil your hair. Every heat protection spray recipe I’ve found on here always has a lot of oils. I don’t know, it just doesn’t seem to be logical adding oil and then boiling it into our hair follicles. Sorry if it sounds I’m being a douche! Xxx

Remember that oil is used as a sealant to keep that moisture locked into your hair, so heat protectants would contain such to seal and lock that moisture to prevent the heat from stripping your hair of it. Makes sense now?

I wouldn't use this prior to heat it would be like deep fat frying your hair. I think as a deep conditioner or leave in would be great

Actually it depends which oil. Almond oil and Coconut oil are fine since they can heat up to high degree. But def not olive oil for example.

Thank you so much for this DIY I really needed this cause my body has less iron so my hair is very light and they are not strong no matter how many things I put in my hair it stays the same and I really love straightening and curling my hair but I do it very less cause I have less hair, and my dad won't buy me a hair protected spray cause they are expensive and hard to find in my country now I can use this DIY for my hair

Y'all thinking too hard. Back in the day women who used to press their hair used PRESSING OIL and their hair thrived without being fried. Nowdays the best(& most)heat protectants have water as the main ingredient then silicone and oil being last; however, wisdom is needed here because everyone's hair is different.
