DIY Fowler's Wood Water Bottle on Alone (Bushmen's Water Bottle)

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

This is a DIY all about the wood water bottle Aka "Bushmen's Water Bottle" i made on History's Alone season 3 you see me drinking out of in like the 3 or 4 episode. I will show how to make a wood water bottle like i made on Alone while i was out there in Patagonia. And at the end we will see how much the wood water bottle i just made holds and how much the wood water bottle i made on History's Alone holds. So when this is over you will have the knowledge you need to DIY get out there to build your own Bushmen's Water Bottle. And you will be on step closer to surviving the wild!!!

I love how this channel isn't "hardcore" survival, and you make it suitable for adults and kids to learn. I got into loving bushcraft and survival by watching a show like this, where survival didn't scare me, but it also didn't look easy. That's why I love it!

Bushcraft Baxter , Great show, great demo! Do you think a little pine pitch on the cotton fibers would have helped with the bottle made in Patagonia, or would it have dried up, losing its sealed? I have zero knowledge of this, and even less experience!!

I'm not sure if you noticed but there's a small human stuck to your back in the beginning of the video. No pine sap to waterproof/glue the bottle on the outside?

That's a little sparrow on my back:) sap isn't necessary but if it's not used all the time would help reduce the speed of shrinking and swelling so it's ready to go whenever you need it I bet.

The sap or tar would work but it tastes funny to some people. The old shipbuilders used to roll rope in tar and sap before inserting it into cracks between boards to waterproof their boats.

Being a Bushman of course I am I'm sure you know that if you had collected some of that maple syrup or maple sap I should say and cooked it down into syrup you could use it to stick your two pieces of wood together prior to tying them together and that would prevent leaks as the sap hardens and dries in theory you could even soak the wood in the heated sap in order to protect the wood from breaking down as well just a thought

You did like three takes on camera trying get the introduction right.I told him you would win because you were a perfectionist. But you dang near lost because you worked yourself like a horse! I think I'm going to love this channel. Congratulations! PS I got my Cold Steel shovel about a month ago. Love it! You should try Cold Steel's Gurka Kukri. It's amazing. Is that the only modification your made on the multi tool?

Just ordered a Victorinox Spirit and a Work Champ. I love the Victorinox knives but never considered their multi tool Swiss Tool and Spirit line. I carved and shaped the can opener on one of my small Campers like your mod here and I really like it. I think Victorinox is better than Leatherman in that they are made to be comfortable in the hand to use. That Ranger Grip is amazing tool too. You really need to give it a try. Victorinox had to buy Wenger out who originally produced them. They were really competing and even winning somewhat. And since buying them out Victorinox has been producing them now with their logo and thier colors on them. But they stopped putting out the version that had pliers in them. (Wenger Ranger Grip 90) I think that's because it would have killed about half the other lines of knives Victorinox is trying to sell. That why they bought them out in the first place. Yeah it was killing the Work Champ, Swiss Tool, and Spirit lines. It was that good. I've been looking for a Wenger Ranger Grip 90 everywhere for about a year and no one is letting go of them. Yeah, I got to have some pliers on a tool for small 20 gauge snare wire cutting and fishing hook removal for my survival knife. If you are ever looking for an idea for a video I'd love to see one on your Victorinox Spirit and see all the uses you got out of it. Anyway I want to thank you for all the ideas you gave us all in so many different areas. Take care

Fowler great vid. I like how you chunked it. I have done a similar thing with cane/bamboo. Was the bamboo to small in diameter to hold water?

One question; wouldn't trimming the neck before splitting the log be easier?

I thought about making one, but also could you have made a charcoal and pine resin mixture to seal the split to reduce leaking?

Not just sap but grounded down charcoal and pine sap, I use it to secure arrow heads, and birch bark cups.
