I am sure this will help one or two of you out there... considering DOSS has sold boatloads of these things. This repair covers a common symptom. No power up, or... the unit powers up for a moment and powers off. Sometimes the failure exhibits itself as a powerup loop where the unit turns on and off over and over on its own as the battery is on the verge of being drained.
Speaker itself. One of the best values in portable speakers. Better bass than most.

Thanks for making this video, very useful. My unit is over 3 years old now. When running on battery on high volume (playing music outdoors), it only has enough power for 30-40 minutes, then it dies. However, on low volume (playing music indoors), it can still hold up to 4 hours on battery. I was a bit surprised how fast the battery deteriorates and thought the charger could be broken (the charger rattles a bit inside), but now I see this is a common problem. At the moment I use a 8xAA battery holder with 12V output to charge it when playing music outdoors. It works, but this is becoming an expensive solution. I might try to replace it with rechargeable 12V power bank or use rechargeable AA batteries instead.

Thanks bud ! You save my Doss . I tried replacing the 18650 battery but, I think the battery pcb board have failed for it won't power up so, I followed your idea jumpimg the + and - wires as you have shown and now it's a plug-in version which really don't bother me. Thanks again bud !

Thanks, this worked for me. My unit wouldn't power up at all (it didn't cycle like yours did). I tested the batteries, and they had 3.7 volts, but no voltage coming out of the circuit board. I used the old battery wires to make the jumpers. I kept the connector on one end, that way I only had to solder the 2 wires onto the circuit board. It made it a little easier.

Thanks for the video showing how to strip the soundbox down, great instructions. I had the problem of it not turning on after a long spell on not being used, tested the battery and there was no voltage from the plug, checked at the cells and 1 was 3.2v 2 was 3v so 6.2v total. I'm pretty sure there is a low voltage shutoff built into that pcb board. I managed to charge the battery up a bit using an rc battery charger. I used the nimh mode at 0.5a just the gently bump the voltage up for a few minutes, plugged the battery back into the soundbox, put the charger for the soundbox in too and turned it on and it fired up. Just going to leave it on charge for a while now to get the voltage back up in the battery. Seems that it could just be a case of your battery voltage has dropped too low and the low voltage cutoff wont let it charge back up from the soundbox itself. This might be a simple fix for someone else who's having the same issue, worth a try before hard wiring 👍

There is a cutoff. When voltage is applied to charge the pack again, it should allow that and close the circuit.

Thanks for this video. You explain it very well. Can I ask a question? My speaker shook itself off my shelf, hit the floor and now it rattles when I play it. I followed your video to take it apart and checked for any loose screws or other parts but it sounds like the speaker is blown... Could I be missing something? Would it be worth ordering a replacement speaker like a generic one from eBay maybe? TIA

I have searched but couldn't find anywhere where they mention the voltage of the battery pack. Other than 2s 18650 and on the official page they mention 2200mAh. I am assuming it's 7.4v as it's only stated to have 2200mAh. Please correct me if I'm wrong. I just want to be sure because I'm going to replace the battery pack pretty soon.

Hi, Great Video ! I've had my for a year or so now, i like it, didn't know about the hidden BMS under there through. Quick question? I'd like to extend my usage on the battery, if I add a set of batteries onto the existing pack ( yes wire it correctly and glue it to the box so it doesn't sound like my neighbor's teenage son's rattler) will it possibly double my usage, and or will the BMS act up and say " no no no, not in my court !

Could just do a larger 2S battery pack with an over / under voltage BMS for protection. Could easily fit something double the size or more. I would not add any cells unless you can match 18650 cells - if so, would be an easy thing!

When i turn it on, (batterie or ac) it would switch from bluetooth to jack 3.5 itself and no sound or will play a few minutes and again switch from connected bluetooth to scaning on bluetooth, never the less, it worked for about 16 mounts and started to do that while i was listening. Any ideas?

I had the same problem. It should be a problem with the board where the buttons are mounted. There is a small capacitor on it that can be broken. This causes the ADS Key not to get the correct value for changing Vol+/- Skip and Change input. For lower volume there must be 2,7 K Ohm between ADS Key and Ground. 4,7K Ohm for Volume up. Each Value has a function. In front of each Button there is a resistor with the necessary Value (2,7K in front of Volume down button and so on) The Button is connected between ground and ADS and shortens the connection to the value of the resistor. If you messure between ads key and ground at the connector there should be a value higher than 15K Ohm. If not you get problems with buttons. In my case there were 3,1K Ohm causing the box to swap title, lower volume and other things. Hope you could understand what i mean. English is not my native language 😅

I'm curious if you ever got a chance to change out the 2" drivers? And, if it makes a difference? I'm also noticing that the high-end doesn't go so high. Even with the grill off, as I've seen in other recommendations about high freq. response, it helped but not significantly. You're the only person who I've come across who even mentions swapping drivers. Also, great video! Super helpful with this speaker just in general. Thanks

If your Dosbox no longer responds correctly to the buttons at the top or the Bluetooth keeps dropping out, it can be because a small SMD capacitor on the circuit board that houses the switches has failed.. I was not able to play music via AUX ore Bluetooth , even with SD playback the box has made crap. The keys were not properly assigned because their given resistance did not bring the level that the processor needs to evaluate. The Block capacitor had a leak of 150 Kohm and therefore nothing was right anymore for the Prozessor. I unsoldered it, it's just for debouncing.

If it got wet, you could remove the battery and each individual PCB. Scrub with DI water, dry with compressed air. Then, spray with deoxit D5, scrub and then flush with deoxit D5. Let dry for a day or so. See if it starts working.

I would open it up and make sure it has not come disconnected from the speaker side or the PCB on the amplifier. If both those look good, use a AA battery and attach one side to negative on the bass driver with the amplifier unplugged from the speaker. Use a jumper wire to tap the positive side of the battery to the positive terminal of the speaker and see if the cone moves. If not, the speaker is blown.

After reconnecting either battery pack, nothing. It seems dead until I connect the 12V DC. But then starts with the on/off cycle again. On occasion I do use mine from battery power, so it would be nice to have that option. I was wondering if it is possible to get a hold of the BMS board. Would you know where and what to look for as it seems like something that should cost about $10. Thanks.
