DIY farmhouse crates EASY!

I love to make projects out of the farmhouse crates that I see usually at Walmart and Hobby Lobby, but they can run anywhere from $8 for a tiny one up to $20+ for a regular sized crate. That's a lot for something that didn't look super difficult to build. I decided to try making a few of my own. I was really happy to discover they were just as easy to build as I thought they were. I chose to use the large craft sticks because that meant no cutting wood slats, as I know not everyone has something that they can use to cut wood with. The craft sticks are thin enough to cut with a decent pair of scissors. I just love how these turned out you can paint them, leave them just the way they are either way they are really cute and best of all very inexpensive to make. I made 2 here with plenty of supplies left over to make more. I would have to get more wood slats for the ends, but those are only $1.99! I spent about $16 on all of the supplies.
(Walmart) Chicken wire roll $5, Large craft sticks $3.47, white and black apple barrel paint .97cents each, (Hobby Lobby) Stencil $2.50, woodpile wood planks (2 pc in one pack) $1.99 (Dollar Tree) Large craft sticks $1. I already owned the staple gun, which you can also find at Walmart for around $10 for the smallest one. You could also use hot glue with the fix all adhesive for a more permanent hold if you don't want to buy a staple gun, but I would recommend using the staple gun if you want to move the box around a lot. For me I used mine on my countertop for holding fruit, so my kids are always sliding it back and forth across the counter. Glue wouldn't work in this case, but it could work in some, so I wanted to put that out there as an option.

Love these little crates and they are so expensive. I have everything but the picture frames or I could make some today. Miss stormy here in Memphis TN. My dogs are freaking out over the thunder so we are back in bed so the dogs can calm down. They are at least letting me watch this video. Thanks for the video. Oh, it never crossed my mind about the stencils. I love the one you used.

I just refuse to pay what the stores are asking, when I know how little actually goes into the crates lol. I am cheap! :) I am going to pick up some small wood planks from Lowes and have my husband cut them down so I can make some larger ones that are more sturdy for organizing. The ones I made look so cute on my counter with the fruit for snacks. Thanks so much for watching!!

Hobby Lobby, they have quite a few farmhouse ones. Don't forget use your 40% off online coupon. I just use my phone and type in Hobby Lobby coupon and it pops up. THey will take 40% off your most expensive item.

My husband also has the notifications on and he said they don't notify him most of the time when I post a new one. Which is kind of frustrating. What is the point of having a notification tool, if it doesnt work? I post Dt videos every week, and try to get some craft DIY videos and other stores out once or twice a month as time allows.
