DiY Fahrrad-Camper // Erste Ausfahrt

    These type of ideas for the bicycle pop-up trailer are inspiring. And it's nice seeing these ideas used foreal outside, than just a concept on paper, (or pretend). I noticed you, and others, are working out the basic concepts first. Which is good. But eventually, people are going to say it takes about the same time to set up a tent, ( but this is not a tent). Or want more space, (which has to be worked out, like designing a transformer toy). I think it brilliant what you've done. I also like you can store a small amount of camping gear. That's important.🙂

  • @remyllebeau77

    @remyllebeau77

    2 жыл бұрын

    That was almost exactly my criticism of these types of pull behind trailers before I even saw your comment. It certainly isn't a tent. There is too little space and there isn't bug protection. I think people need to justify the extra weight and hassle of a trailer before throwing away the idea of a tent or hammock setup. I will give it the benefit of the doubt and say it is probably better for comfort than sleeping on the ground in a tent, however, having a draft underneath gives him the same problem that hammocks have on cold nights.

  • @BillOweninOttawa

    @BillOweninOttawa

    @@remyllebeau77 Netting could be added fairly easily. As for cold, he has a pad and unless it was winter I don't see an issue. It is a tight fit for sure, but the bivy crowd should not mind. I really like the idea of not having to worry about wet or uneven ground. If an engineer went to work on this using better materiel like alloy and carbon, I could see this turning into a really useful tool. Thanks!

    The engineering of this is interesting, however utilization of available space in the trailer falls short. I do not see where the camper is better than a tent. There is enough room in the little trailer for a nice sized dome tent, a sleeping system, a camp stove, provisions and a comfortable camp chair. Possibly enough room for a companion biker to share space in the tent. I did like the video and will agree that it sits up and breaks down quite fast. Thumbs up...
