Some snippets from the CDC website:
www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-...
The CDC continues to study the spread and effects of the novel coronavirus across the United States. We now know from recent studies that a significant portion of individuals with coronavirus lack symptoms (“asymptomatic”) and that even those who eventually develop symptoms (“pre-symptomatic”) can transmit the virus to others before showing symptoms.
In light of this new evidence, CDC recommends wearing cloth face coverings in public settings where other social distancing measures are difficult to maintain (e.g., grocery stores and pharmacies) especially in areas of significant community-based transmission.
The cloth face coverings recommended are not surgical masks or N-95 respirators. Those are critical supplies that must continue to be reserved for healthcare workers and other medical first responders, as recommended by current CDC guidance.

I love this face mask! It was easy to make, fast, and fits well!! It’s comfortable to wear too. I did improve it by adding a 6 inch pipe cleaner inserted into the hem edge of the sleeve so the nose edge lays close to my skin and stays out of the way of my glasses. [I just sniped a tiny hole into the underside of the hem and inserted the pipe cleaner (with both ends folded in just a bit so no metal pokes at the material -or your cheeks!) into the casing created by their hem. ] I believe it can survive the washing machine leaving it in. Or you can take it out and hand wash the pipe cleaner. If you don’t have pipe cleaners try a plastic coated wire tie (like those that come on new electronics cords) since they are normally pretty sturdy also. I’m praying for the world for us all to be loving, wise and faithful each day. I pray that I see what God has given me each day to do and let go of all the should/could/would thoughts and the anxieties that can come with them. Thanks for creating a great face mask video!🤗😘 air hugs and kisses to all

SO EASY to follow ,this is the best face mask DIY I have ever seen ,and I've seen them all.But you should insert at least three other layers to the inside ,either paper towels plus coffee filters. You should have at least 5 to 6 layers because a virus droplet is as small as the top of a hair.Any protection is a good thing ,remember you protect you. And I'll protect me, double the protection ,we all win. When taking off mask only touch the strings, never the front, and place face down in a bag on the floor of your car ,for later disposal 😷😷😷

tristinstyling you even have opening for a filter. The best way to test your mask is with a lighter bic lighter hold up close to your face and blow if your able to blow it out then you need a filter try to blow out with medical mask you can’t at least the better ones it doest have to be the n95 mask just the ordinary mask they say if your able to blow out the flame you need two of the cheaper medical mask worn. Curious if you could test out yours with the tee shirt and let me know. Thanks

No, you didn't. I assume they're just extra strings for other masks. Remember, she only used one sleeve, so she still has another one she could use to make another make. Also, if the strings get too stretched out, you have extras. Just making an assumption ;-)

Brilliant use of the T-shirt sleeve. If you place a folded paper towel between the two layers it would increase the protection to approx 90 %. That was shown in a study comparing DIY masks. Also, if you could add a wire to form a snug fit around the nose, it would be even better. Also, I wonder if it wouldn't be better to use the entire length of the string instead of cutting it in two. This could then be tied around the head at the top and at the back. This might create a closer fit.

I love this! Well done! While I know many people would prefer the ear option, I don't. However, I ended up just clipping my strings once so I had one super long string. That way, I could have a loop for my head and tie in the back. You just stitch it up one side and back down the other. Boom. This mask gives you lots of options, and IT IS COMFORTABLE!!!

Great job! Keeps the mask at two (2) layers of cotton as recommended by CDC AND allows for future placement of filtering material when one can acquire it! Thanks so much for sharing! I will be certain to share with my non-sewing friends, of which I have many... Be safe, Be protected. Be kind.

Wow! Some people are designers by nature. You would be one of those people. Best and probably the easiest i've seen. Clever, with a touch of fashion! Thanx for sharing.

Aaw thanks! We are a fashion styling company after all 😉... you can customize your mask with colored sharpies to add your own flare (just don’t forget to throw it in the laundry before wearing so you don’t inhale the sharpie fumes)... Thanks for watching! If you want, you can save your extra materials for our next NO SEW, JUST A T-SHIRT & SCISSORS tutorials... one will be for a pocket filter upgrade for this mask... then the one after that will guide users through how to make more masks out of the body of the shirt with a free printable template! We’re currently trying to refine and simplify the template as fast as we can but Feel free to follow us here and on Instagram & Facebook so you get the heads up when it goes live.
