If you have a small sewing room like I do, space is at a premium! Come along with me on my journey to turn my disorganized fabric stash area into something semi-organized. In this video I will show you how I use Dollar Tree foam core board to make my own fabric bolts, how I wrap the fabric, and how I DIY my fabric bolt storage using a bookshelf.

Just came across this channel. I have done this same thing with bolts but measure my fabric before putting on bolts. Then pin a note with the amount. I note each time I cut from the bolts. Doesn't take but maybe a minute.

I used to use comic book boards but recently reorganized my sewing room. I have a video showing the disaster and the end result. It's still a work in progress but much better than it was when it was in the disaster mode! Maybe once I get the stash down to a manageable stash I can do a board type thing again. Great video!

I had never thought about using comic book boards! I might try that when I tackle my quilting fabrics in my craft room. I totally understand the disaster mode - I'm sort of living that right now!

I use comic book boards for smaller quantities of fabric. I get empty bolts and cardboard tubes that I get from the fabric store for my larger quantities of fabric and my vinyl and waterproof canvas

Hi Nikita! I really like your idea of foam core board for the fabric bolts. I have a lot more cotton than fleece, so I'll steal your idea at some point and put my cotton on bolts. I have all my material in totes as well. I do have it separated and each tote has a sticker with what material is inside. I had 4 totes but found a lot of material at a thrift store about 3 weeks ago, so I had to add another tote. My flannel wash clothes are on the back burner again because we finally found a longer bench for under our kitchen window for the dogs, so I need to make a denim cover for it. We've been looking for something much longer and Tuesday Morning had one. Stinking excited and can't wait for the dogs to get to use it! Now both can lay at the window together.

That sounds like such a fun project! I’ve got a dog bed out of duck canvas on my to do list. ☺️ I also haven’t had a ton of luck finding fabric at my local thrift stores but I should probably keep looking... I want to get a variety of cottons and do a patchwork quilt soon!

If you Live in a wet and humid climate DON'T USE FOAMBOARDS ask me how i know lol... The foamboards sweat against your fabric and give them mouldy spots etc ... i have gone back to comic book boards for small 1 metre.. larger fabric 2 metres and over I have gone for cardboard or the fabric bolts from fabric shops or ebay
