I really like Victorian/Civil War style Dress. I think it’s absolutely gorgeous, elegant and fancy. The pattern I used in this video is simplicity 1300. You can find it at most fabric stores Notice: DIY sewing tutorial schedule is every weekend.

Yumi King Waw you are so talented
I really love your videos Yumi. I dont mean to be rude in any way, but this dress isnt from the Victorian era, I personally study this era. This dress is from the Rococo period where Lolita fashion was inspired from. In other words Marie Antoinette.

Nora Martin I am a Civil War reenactor and this is not it... Definitely Rococo inspired, 1700's is my favorite era too so I know it well.

Nora Martin Thank you! I couldn't remember the name Rococo but I kept calling it "Marie Antoinette-ish" when I saw this in my subbox. lol I used to call all "old timey" clothes Victorian but once I started getting into fashion and costume design I find myself cringing when Victorian is used so loosely. lol Gotta say this is the 1st time I've heard a Rococo inspired outfit "Civil War" though. hehe 💖

Yeah Civil War is like 1860's and only lasts a few years and they did not use that much lace or sleeves like that, Rococo usually is referred to the whole of 1700's.. Victorian is considered kind of the life of Queen Victoria from what I understand, which is a larger span in the 1800's..... Gets confusing.. lol And this style of dress is based on the Japanese street fashion Lolita and Rococo inspired.

As a fashion historian, this wasn't referring to the victorian, this is the rococo style dress. Btw I love your DIYs. And I only can wish to make my Eliza Schuyler cosplay from Hamilton since I watch this video

But there was a brief period in the Victorian era, around the 1870s, that involved details that were prevalent in the 18th century such as sleeve flounces or robings down the fronts of the dresses or stomachers.
This looks so delicate and precious.. I really should invest in new sawing technics

This channel has taught me more about making clothes than my fashion class.
It's so pretty and feminine! You look so lovely in the clothes you make. I'm too old (in my 60's) to wear Lolita style dresses, but I sure love them! Thank you!

Omg Yumi I bought this pattern a couple of months ago because I fell in love with the design, but I've never worked with a pattern before and was so overwhelmed any time I took it out of the packet. Thank you so much for making this! Hopefully after seeing how easy you made it look I'll be able to make it! Thank you thank you!!

I think this is more closely related to the Rococo style, if that helps you find more dresses that you like in this style :3

Very nice. You are beautiful and your work is beautiful.
I live in the Greater Surrounding Area and I wish I could meet you! That way you can teach me how to make your absolutely stunning dresses. 💕
Amazing Yumi :3 I wish I could have your talent :p the dress is absolutely beautiful
wow i love your dress
I appreciate the craftsmanship, but in no way is this a Victorian/Civil War inspired dress. It's obviously a dress inspired by the Georgian Era/French Revolution fashion.

Athina Barreda I know right that's what I thought

OMG IS THAT FLOWER PRINT LITERALLY MY CEILING WALLS AND CURTAINS?? i have a victorian room, it was designed that way when i moved in!! :)
OMG I have that exact same pattern!!!
Gorgeous
You make It look SOOOOO easy. You are very clever.
For Valentine’s Day, I made this for my mom she loved it!
😍😍😍 But I miss your voice covers😫
OMG yumi, excellent job. i love it, and you look wearing it... can you make a victorian long gown pretty yumi? would love to watch it...
I wonder how she self learn all these.... I can never sew properly, much less make a costume using pattern. Mine will just be a scrap piece of cloth 😂😂 much respect for you. She's so good man. Don't have to worry about any clothes since she can make by herself^^
Wow that was complicated to make. But it is worth it. It's also so cute too. Yumi do you have a video on how to make the under skirt? I want to try make it.
Heyyyyyy, I got this pattern too! Haven't made it yet, but was thinking of adapting it to a more Rococo look.
Yumi, você esta de parabéns
it's amazing
yumi king you're inspired me to start to sew love to watch your videos and your guys help us a great video I'm learning to sew, and I have yet to improve and learn about the graying, because I still have a lot to learn and I'm 11 years old.I love your videos

i have this pattern for months now, didn't understand it.. your video made it a bit clearer but i don't think i can do it >.
it so cute
Cute~!!!
You are so talented! Sending lov ^w^
Wow!
I love your dress tutorials! Under all the dress you make do you use a petticoat? or the "fluffiness" is given by the ruffles?
Your content is amazing and has inspired me to do a lot of sewing of my own. I was wondering if I could make a request for you to make a DIY of Yui's outfit from Diabolik Lovers. I really want to cosplay her but it's too expensive for me to buy the outfit, and making it myself would be really fun and less expensive. Many thanks
the dress is very good !!!um…i going to buy a sewing machine but i don't know what kind is better . Can you give me some suggestions?
I like how she's all: "oh, i don't know how this works..." "can you help me with this?" around her boyfriend, but then she sews an entire dress all by herself, with so much detail XD
:o beautiful
You are amazing I love you yumi so much so much
uh may zing!!!!!!😍😍😍😍😍😍😘😫😫
Yumi can you please make a video about what to wear to be cute?
Yumi!! This is beautiful! Will you try simplicity 8127 if you like it and get the chance??
As an older seamstress, I think you are very talented. Keep up the good work and check out Past Patterns to see if you could adapt some of those your style. 😀
