You really put a ton of time and effort into the design and build of this truly gorgeous finished piece, not to mention the production and editing of the video. Speaking of- Thank you for condensing each step into a manageable 30 minute video for numpties like myself! I know a table like this takes literally months of hard work (daily) to get to the finish line. Thanks. Btw that’s an ingenious little router slab device you’ve constructed- when you consider that Woodpeckers sells their Router Sleds for over a $1000 and yours is just as effective for a fraction of the cost: that’s a very clever design indeed! I’ve seen other videos on making DIY Router sleds- yours is brilliant! Simple yet clever! ……..I do have one quick question. I am currently in the process of building my own Rputer sled. I have not seen a Router Slab Bit for your sled as the heavy duty/big/wide yellow one that you have in your Router. Where did you buy this bit? It looks like a 1/2” shank, or is it a 1/4”? Thanks in advance for your help and attention to this question. I also look forward to more of your epoxy table/woodworking videos in the future. Cheers! Scott.

  • @timwilde4200

I'm curious. I'm thinking of trying something like this both for a dining table and a desk. With the latter, would you keep it strictly a match with the wood used for the desk top as far as the drawer frame and drawer fronts are concerned, or try to get the epoxy and identical color in? I'm leaning to keeping it just wood so that the accent is on the desk top. Any thoughts?

You have to be careful with melamine. If the epoxy heats up too much during curing, it can melt the vinyl part of the melamine and stick to your project. Tyvek or similar tape avoids this. It may require a little more sanding because of the lapping of the tape can leave a slightly uneven surface. But compared to prying the melted melamine off and then grinding and sanding the rest of it off, I will chose the Tyvek every time. Good luck.

Question: why is it you didn’t feel like you needed to put braces under the table like other KZreadrs do? I agree aesthetically it would look bad on this table because the beautiful transparent epoxy would show them. But apparently (I don’t really know) the wood warps over time. Which seems logical.
