DIY Electric Blinds. Save $$$!!! Here's How..
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
Motorise your blinds. It's cheap, easy and awesome! Here's how I did it.
After renovating our house and getting some lovely patio doors installed, I realised that I needed some shading for those rare sunny days in the UK!
When looking to purchase some roller blinds, I didn't want a cord dangling in the middle of the doors and the only way to prevent that was to get electric blinds.
Originally I got quotes from companies asking for thousands of pounds so I did it myself and it only cost a couple of hundred!
If you have any questions feel free to ask.
Below is a list of the parts I used.
If you click the Amazon.com affiliate links, it'll take you straight to the items and really help out my channel! It won't cost you anything. Appreciate it!

Thanks for watching!
A tutorial on how to set up the terminal block on this project would be great!
Nice video. I am also considering. But question is how did you connect each motor to the mains ?
Wow I loved your video

Hey thanks!
Very artistically and planned video. On the audio mix, I recommend the music turn down a notch. During production the balance was probably just right, but rendering often changes the balance. If the music is loud enough to make you spaz out and hear the melody in place of the talking then it’s too high. Otherwise very very unique and artistically made video one of the best planned videos online

Thanks for watching and really appreciate the feedback! I need to work on my audio mixing so really appreciate your thoughts.
You make my brain happy lol
How did you drill into the lintel. Thanks
I have an open of 4.4m. Will two motors work?
Hi I have a motorized blind with a remote. How do I automate it to open and close the shutters based on a schedule without using the remote. The blinds are from a German manufacturer
Nice video~dear
Great video you deserve more subs 😂

That would be nice! Thanks for watching and glad that you enjoyed it.
Can you please explain how you paired different remotes in detail? I am unsure how you achieved synchronous movement with a single remote controller. Appreciate your help. Thanks.

Hi and thanks for watching the video! Getting the blinds paired with a single remote was fairly straightforward but the synchronous motion took some planning to get right. Essentially it involved setting up each blind individually with the others unpowered. That's probably the simplest way I can describe it. If there's enough interest, I may do a specific video on it.
I'm gonna make a motorized projector screen

Lol I was going to comment exactly this. 84 dollar projector screen.....
Great video. I see you used a mains powered, the Amazon link takes you only to battery operated ones.

Thanks for watching! I've updated the links for the mains powered motor and also linked to the mounting bracket that these motors need.
I would have purchased the electric window paint, that blanks the window when a voltage is provided to each window, so no dangling items and no moving parts, but you can also get glass window units with Venetian blinds inside between the glass, that are used in offices for privacy, very neat and no dangling parts again. But a good video thanks

Thanks for watching. I've only ever seen that magic paint in the movies! Is it real? If I tried anything like that, I think my other half would end me for touching our new patio doors!

Can you send me the details on what you are referring and what is the watts for running them?

@@robotanv It's real but the glass isn't truly clear, it looks milky or dirty even when in the see-through mode If you put "Smart glass" into Google images you'll see what I mean
How much did this entire process cost you?
@robotanv
Жыл бұрын
Hi and thanks for watching! I'd say about $800 in total - about $250 per set of blinds. So that includes the cost of the custom blind, electric motor kit with remote, wall-mounting bracket.
Brother your video is informative. One nit pit of mine is music is obstructing your voice.

Glad you enjoyed the video and thanks for the feedback! I'll take that on board!
This video is a Hey look what I've done, not a Hey come along and lets make this happen lol
Need a step by step install. Overview is nice but usually the devil is in the details
Get yourself a ladder much safer
DIY means do it yourself, as in: build the thing from scratch💁 It doesn't mean: purchase the completed product you want from a website🤦

Most people aren’t interested in designing blinds from scratch. Automated blinds can cost thousands so this was a good diy for the installation and ordering vs using a full service company

Oh get over yourself, what are you expecting people to sow the blinds themselves as well? By hand.. Buying a seperate motor and wiring it in yourself is not buying the completed thing - that can cost hundreds of pounds.

DIY means don't pay someone to fit something. People who DIY their bathroom are not making baths, sinks and toilets from scratch?!

this is not DIT , you just bought everything pre built !!! wtf is DIY about this ?
You could have bought cordless blinds, cheap, just for getting rid of cord, motorizing blinds is a nonesence

Hi and thanks for watching. I couldn't find what you're describing but if you could point some out, that would be awesome!
Why didn't you get a wider middle curtain and place it back a bit

Thanks for watching! I wanted all three lined up but appreciate that results in a gap between the blinds. That was the lesser of two evils for me.

Those are shades, not blinds. Learn the difference.
