A great step if you wanted to use the hair sooner, and which also makes it easier to handle because it wont stay so hot, is to take it from the hot water and immediately submerge it in cold water and hold it there for about 30 seconds. This will immediately set the curl in its new shape. Then you can remove the rollers from the hair, blot it dry to remove excess water and hang it to dry. It will dry in 30-45 minutes and be ready for use :-)

wow, your tutorial is so helpful and educational, thank you! I'm making a crochet headband wig now, using pre-stretched Expression braiding hair. May I ask if these braiding hairs can be curled using hotwater setting later, if it is firstly smoothed out with a cool iron/hair dryer please? Like how many times will braiding hair respond to heat? Will it no longer curl with hotwater if it had previously been straightened with a straightening brush or iron at 120C? THanks for any advice!

Thanks for the tutorial! It is becoming more difficult to find 2x rod styled #51 (gray hair mix) for me to do crochet styles for my mother. I'm thinking for shorter styles (on seasoned citizen women) I bet you could use perm rods for super short styles or cut the hair shorter and use the flexi rods. I plan on trying this soon!!!

Also how do you soften without fabric softener? I dont like crunchy hard curls i want soft as human hair (im caucasian so my hair is silky) how do i get my crochet hair to feel soft like it should feel not crunchy and stiff and straw like.

I tried this and it worked really well but after 2 days, the coils turned to lose curl, is that normal?

Did you allow it to dry for days? Those i made last year are still intact and i have reused them

This is so fuckin clutch, my hair is a fantasy color so finding different types of curled braiding hair the right color is impossible !
