don't believe this stuff. this color theory is fundamentally wrong! Basic body colors are cyan, magenta and yellow. yellow + magenta = red Magenta + Cyan = Blue Cyan + yellow = green

And then she is like add more blue if you like to get the purple you like. Umm then that won't be inbetween those 2.

what she is showing here is more like Goethes color Theory en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Theory_of_Colours this is a more feeling based palette Theory. since I'm a printer I do not believe this is very helpful for painting or drawing.

You can google up Küppers color wheel and learn about this color wheel rather this one showed in the video. Why? You can make any color with cyan, magenta and yellow (phyically ofc things don't will work out the same every time) and eith this one in the video you can't create colors like magenta and cyan, not even the right yellow.

honestly shocked you got that purple from mixing red and blue. as the other people are saying, purple can only really be achieved with cyan and magenta. same with green by mixing cyan and yellow, though the blue you're using seems quite cyan-y, so that's probably why it looks as correct as it does, if you're not just just using the color straight from the tub rather than mixing

if you put all colors together it theoretically equals out to Black. since she has yellow in her mix here she will get a darker purple. a pure and light purple she would get if she mixed magenta + magenta + cyan = purple

this happens because the purple is the third color between those others. yellow + magenta = red magenta + cyan = blue red + blue = purple yellow + magenta + magenta + cyan = purpl

@@zuckerzwei8562 that last one is not accurate, yellow would make magenta+magenta+cyan duller than an actual purple. but yes, you are correct about needing more magenta to make a purple, I just didn't specify the AMOUNT of magenta.

I didn't "fake" anything. Mixing the colors gave me those results.
