    Hello, I am enjoying all of your presentations. Thank you. May I recommend that you tell the viewer details like the thickness of the foam backing, the kind of stitches you use and why, the thickness of the material you use for the welt, stuff like that. I know literally nothing about upholstery and this will go a long way for me. Thanks again. Great stuff and you are an excellent instructor. You should teach those kids in upholstery school in your retirement.

    Hi Richard- i have been watching many of your videos and they are very helpful. I am having a problem when i sew a row for a pleat. At the end i pull the sewn material away to the left of the needle. The thread through the needle goes left to right. When i pull it away to create slack the cut the thread- this seems to shread the thread because it is pulling on the needle. In one of you videos you said to finish sewing with the needle up because that way it wont need to pull the thread as it is going around the bobbin. How can i come to the end of a row of stitching, then cut the thread , move to the next row and just start stitching without having to actually hold the thread ends. I hope you can follow what i am asking.

  • @oldschoolautoupholstery

    Hello John, Thanks for hanging in there with me. You can try to not hold the thread and see if your machine will accept that. My old Chandler machine, I didn't have to hold the thread all the time, but on occasion, the top thread would overload in the bobbin. So it really just became a habit to hold the thread. I have to hold the thread on my Juki much more often. Please keep liking and watching!

  • @johngreve8813

    @johngreve8813

    Hi Richard- thanks for your quick reply. I guess like you said i may have to hold it. Something i thought of is that thread could be shredding because i might be using not a big enough needle. The thread shreds and i have to keep rethreading the needle. I will check but i think i am using a #92 thread. Maybe an 18 needle- i could try using a 20 but didnt want to be putting a big hole in the vinyl. Is 92 a good size thread for car upholstery? Thanks - enjoy your day😊

    Hi! I would imagine hard to get a color right from a computer monitor. I use an actual sample ring for accuracy. Thank you!

    Hello Willie, Prices are very fluent. All depends on your location, the person doing your work, their experience, materials chosen, design, and so much more. There is not a price like an item on a Walmart shelf. The best thing to do is Google "Upholstery shop near me". They will give you the price you are asking for. Please keep liking and watching!

    Well, that is the only position it has. No options for different positions.
