nice system, well done👍. Anyway, yes, I agree, the air becomes saturated with lubricant, it hurts. especially if the cnc is not closed. Use a protective mask or close the cnc if you use it a lot. However, the cooling must be placed behind the tip so that it lubricates the cutter blades as they sink and not in front where it only lubricates the surface of the material and not the cut. the ideal is to have multiple nozzles surrounding the tip. Keep it up, beautiful cnc.👌

thanks for the hints! damn, so many people hit me up with this - I wasn't even aware. I'm wondering if this is the case if I use just a little of liquid to make it just a little greasy. And yeah - I didn't think about lubricating the blade from behind. Maybe someday in a bigger machine I'll make surrounding nozzles as you say - that's a good idea!

Te trouble with mist coolants is you're breathing the coolant in, it's even worse in a small home shop.

Could you expand your thoughts? I mean, does other coolants are so bad too? I'm machining once a week, sometimes twice a month and usually not much.

is a dust shoe relevant and compatible with a mist system ? that would keep the air cleaner . plus a good air cleaning system , i think this is mandatory in any shop .

@@swooshjj I don't know, I use Cool Tool II which is pretty safe. When I'm concerned about smoke I use AnchorLube 771 which I also use if I'm going to weld a part as it's soap, not oil based, also on SS. Anchorlube is good on stainless, just wipe it off your lathe bed or it will stain (Cool Tool II won't stain).

@@GBWM_CNC Having given oil based water mist cooling a good working out I also tried water cooling. Much cleaner and no problem if it makes its way in to the environment. Water cooling isn't quite as good as an oil based coolant in terms of ultimate finish and of course rust prevention however it does work and is practically no cost.

Rather than bolting to the machine you could use strong Neodymium magnets and stick it to almost any machine in the workshop that needs coolant mist. By sealing up the oil can reservoir will in not create a vacuum and collapse as the liquid is drained?

I wonder how unhealthy mist coolant is? because you are breathing in those chemicals without knowing it. You don't see coolant mist in the space where you breathe, but it is there. so if you get cancer in 10/20 years' time, you can think about the coolant mist that you regularly inhaled. This is not meant to make you anxious, just to make you think about it. cheers ben.
