DIY cat shelves so your furry friends have vertical space! Follow along as we make a scratching post, cat walkway, sleeping shelf, and sling to keep your cats happy.

Supply List: (all sizes in nominal measurements)
½” x 6” x 8’ pine board for shelves
12” x 16” piece of 3/8” plywood for bed
½” x 4” x 18” piece of wood for sling
24” of 1-inch wooden dowel for sling (or two 12” pieces)
scrap carpet
staple gun with ½” staples
10 shelf brackets
20 screws - #7, ½” to attach the shelf brackets to the shelves
24 drywall anchors (that hold at least 25 pounds) and screws to attach everything to the wall
2 screws - 2” or 2 ½” long wood screws to attach dowels
Pillowcase
At least one cat!

    Its great just wish you would of shown how you hung or attached the scratcher and the hammock 😊

    This was one of the first videos I created, and unfortunately, the camera overheated and I lost that footage! I attached the scratching post directly to the steps with screws. The steps and the hammock were attached directly to the walls into the studs (or where there were no studs, I used drywall anchors and screws). I hope that helps!

    @@Okie-Girl This particular project has only been up for a few months, and it's super solid and holding up very well. The only issue, if you can call it that, is that the cats love the carpet so much that they are scratching and shredding it up pretty quickly. It's likely I'll need to replace those carpet squares every year or so, just due to them wearing out. The rest of it was pretty over-engineered with 50 lb. drywall anchors, etc. -- so the build is going to last until I decide to take it down! There's of course the possibility of the sisal rope eventually wearing out, also -- but that would also be easy to replace if necessary in a few years.
