This DIY cane headboard doesn’t get much easier and it hangs on the wall with an $8 french cleat - can’t beat that especially if you need to save space with a secure and thin headboard design.
Cane headboards are on trend and look amazing in boho styled bedrooms, but we’re on a budget and decided we could create our own cane headboard. The cuts to the boards are simple, a Kreg jig gives you the furniture-quality finish you want, and a staple gun gets the job done. This simple DIY caned headboard transformed our daughter’s bed and it was affordable.
Queen headboard frame: 62” long x 25” tall
Supplies:
1″ x 10″ board
1″ x 4″ board
staple gun
French cleat wall hanger
Kreg Jig
Clamps
Wood screws
White duct tape
6’ cane webbing, 20” wide

Great job. You had great shots throughout the video, and it was explained well. Only critique-the Kreg tool is a ‘pocket hole jig,’ not a ‘pocket drill.’

I love this SO much!! What kind of frame is your bed on?

Thanks, Claire! Currently, her mattress is just on a box spring, but I've been considering building a simple platform for it instead.
It turned out so nice! Can you tell me what exact cane color/item you got from that site? Thanks!

Beautiful! I want to make this for my bedroom but what kind of wood did you use?

It's just pine boards from Home Depot.
Where can I get the cane webbing? Please provide a link. Love the video.

Unfortunately, it's no longer available. I would just google it and make sure it's the color and dimensions you need for your frame. I made this headboard about 3.5 years ago and it's still looks great.
Thanks for the video! It looks like the boards around the headboard are 1x4. Where did you use the 1x10 board?
@Amy804Sycamore

The 1x10 is across the bottom so that it disappears past the mattress. Hope that helps! Thanks

So it's not a 1x10 on the top and bottom? Just the bottom? Also you said the height was 25" and you cut the side boards 16". So if the top board is a 1x4 and the bottom one is a 1x10, how do you get 25"?

Hi i want to order the cane but idk how much i need to put in the quantity tab in the link you gave. I’m making a full bed head board. Thanks

To determine the amount of cane I needed, I measured the width of my daughter's mattress and added another foot because I wanted the frame to extend just a bit. The height is just your preference, but I believe it only comes in a few different heights - you could trim for shorter though. Hope that helps!
Obsessed!!!!!! How much did this cost?
@Amy804Sycamore

The can webbing is the more expensive part. The boards are minimal unless you have scrap wood already around. I got the can webbing for $40 but the online shop closed so I'm not sure where to find it for a reasonable price.
Do you know if you could still do this if your headboard is technically a part of the whole bed frame?
@Amy804Sycamore
2 жыл бұрын
Absolutely! You can staple cane wedding to the back side of the frame.
Did you use any sealer on the wood?
@Amy804Sycamore
2 жыл бұрын
No, but I have matte polyacrylic if I get around to it. My teen daughter has been careful and it's still in perfect condition.
Hi can you please tell me the measurements of how much cane you used?
@Amy804Sycamore
3 жыл бұрын
I used the 20" wide roll, and then because my daughter's bed is a queen, I used around 5 feet in length.
Hi I accidentally bought 4 feet cane instead of 5 for my queen bed Do you think it will work out ?
@Amy804Sycamore
2 жыл бұрын
If your bed is a queen size, it will be a little short. You could however, buy wider boards for the sides of the headboard...
If I have to hear one more … ”um” i’m going to freak😂
