    Maybe better identified as a regular wood counter? I’m thinking butcher block is usually side grain or end grain. Good video, glad I found your channel.

    Thank you for showing such a simple way to build/use a DIY router sled! I've watched so many videos of people who over-complicate the constructability of them. Seems like this gets the job done!

    I would love to know how you built your cutting cabinet! So you have a video for THAT?? Love this, I just found your channel today. We were looking into building a closet. Yours was perfect! We watched concrete walkway, raised garden bed and then I saw this, we've been watching your videos for almost an hour now.

    Hey! Can you give us an update on how well it held up?My husband does not believe me that the wood won't warp and be a huge pain in the neck. (we are looking for a cheap option for kitchen counters) Have they held up? Thanks so much!

  • @SimonSaysDIY

    @SimonSaysDIY

    3 жыл бұрын

    It has help up really well actually. To prevent the warping you can add the finish on both top and bottom. moisture soaking into the wood over time causes warping and that is typically from the bottom being unfinished. This is softer wood so we have seen small dents in the wood if hard items are dropped on it. However, the nice part is if you need to a clean it up a little you can add a fresh coat of finish on the wood and it will look like new.

    Hi, do you think I could use watco food safe sealer for a kitchen countertop build? Would it be sufficient or would you use poly acrylic ? Thanks

  • @SimonSaysDIY

    @SimonSaysDIY

    3 жыл бұрын

    I imagine so. as long as the Watco sealer repels water and moisture it should work. is moisture is allowed to absorb into the wood it will cause damage over time and possibly cause the wood to warp over time. Hope that helps!.

    How did u attach the wood to the vanity?

  • @SimonSaysDIY

    @SimonSaysDIY

    3 жыл бұрын

    The vanity or cabinet should have boards at the top running parallel with the counter top. these are used to strengthen the cabinet but also the best place to attached the counter top. I screwed up through those boards into the counter top. you want to make sure your screws are not too long or else they will poke through the top of the countertop. Hope that helps!
