DIY BUILT-IN PANTRY : IKEA HACK

If your home doesn't come with a pantry, this is a great project if you have the space!! I paid $275 for these bookcases that would've cost us $460 new. We used the same can of primer and paint we used on the cabinets, got some 2x4's for the vase, 2 boards of MDF for finishing work and 1 1x2 and look at it now! I couldn't believe painting over the glass worked as well as it did!! We will definitely being doing built-ins again in our future 😍

Yea that was my same thought. Probably would’ve been better off frosting the glass vs painting it. Just seems like an accident waiting to happen but the outcome was lovely.

I used kitchen cabinets to build my dream BEDROOM and it came out so well that my daughter asked me to do one for her as well. Then her friends wanted one and before I knew it 3 years later and I have a small business. Kitchen cabinets work so much better than Bedroom cabinets. For one thing they're made of stronger frames and wood. The finishes are phenomenal and more importantly they come with lots of room something that bedroom suites don't. I live in England and we do NOT have walk in closets. I go to every single kitchen cabinet sales and ones that have been sort of damaged and I go to house clearances. I also use wrapping paper as borders on the walls they are cheap and very easy to do

Great job guys, wegetter done on a budget . The only thing I may have considered doing different would have made more space in between the 2 cabinets maybe 4" to 6" wider that would pull out for a spice rack, Maybe two,a upper and lower with push to open hardware one could build this so as it appears seamless. Just a thought, I've seen this done and it works great for all your smaller and odd size spices and such, depending on how you design and build it. Thanks taking time and sharing your clever upgrade. This is freaking brilliant! I’ve always wanted a pantry in my house bc I miss the one at my old house even tho it wasn’t a walk-in. But something like this is perfect. It doesn’t stick out far or take up a lot of floor space. Thank u for the video! And even tho u didn’t help your man with the initial process u at least tried and that means everything in a healthy relationship. But u did the most important job of making sure the baby was all good and that right there is team work! I’m subscribing bc I absolutely love this!

I think it also comes off fairly easy if you want to change it back.

Great idea until you or someone in your family forgets it's glass.

Is the paint still on the glass yet?

Not a good idea tho. Most ppl close cabinets with an open hand and softly slam them. Someone can put their hand through it not knowing it’s glass, especially kids and teens. My friends son breaks everything.

Me too! But i think by having the glass opaque it allows you to not worry about the inside being perfectly neat ?

I appreciate your honesty. My wife occasionally films me doing DIY stuff. One day she put it up on IG talking about "we" did this. I was like oh she must be French now because we didn't do shit. I did and she watched lol

I am a woman and a diyer and I completely agree with and approve this comment! Nothing more irking than hearing a female recorder including herself in the job getting done and she keeps saying "we" when all I see is he (him doing the job, he rhymes though!🥰)
