Incorporating an actual bench makes it better. The x3 bar is such a rip-off. I can't believe people are foolish enough to bu it.

Built something similar and works geat. The strap-bands made by Clench go up to higher weights and are quite reasonably priced.

Very grateful for this video. I will start building the project today. Can you please recommend two or three different band companies to begin purchasing some bands. Don't anticipate that going to pull more than $100 Thank you

Nice job. Put some blue thread loc on the pipe threads so nothing backs off and gets loose. The blue is removable if you need to change any parts out.

Definitely a good suggestion. I haven't had any issues with anything loosening, but never hurts to be safe.

Impressive, very nice. Will be trying this, as I am intrigued by the X3 bar but not rich enough to pay their price.

Their price is just exorbitant. I'm pretty happy with how it turned out, and it works well, but it takes some getting used to for sure.

Why over-complicate things, why not just do push-ups? You can use the bands to add extra resistance if necessary.

For more tention you could also just wrap the bans around the 2x4 base.

I had considered that, but didn't want to risk damaging the elastic bands.

You can also get the wrap tape they use on baseball bats, Dicks has it . Great job with the bar, making one today

Thanks! The reason I didn't go with the athletic tape is because it leaves a nasty tape residue if you ever change it out.

@joemartinmvc So what kind of tape did you use in the vid? I like that it's wide (3" perhaps). Most I see online aren't wide like that.

I found that the oval type carabiner pinched the band too much, so I changed to the pear shaped version instead.

Love it! Very practical.... but it's clearly fake. 😉 I've made several woodworking clamps from various lengths of pipe and there is no way you could have peeled the UPC sticker off cleanly in just a couple of tries. 😜 I will probably try to make one of the bars. I prefer tube bands and carbiners to the flat band style that is sold with the X3, but like you depict here with your U-bolts, I have to double the tube bands through my wall mounting rings to get them short enough to work with. Have you found the tube bands to break from the stress against the U bolts? I'm pretty new to all of this and wonder about longevity of bands against metal rings. Thanks for this solid looking idea. The pro bars are expensive and the cheap stuff on Amazon looks like it will snap, unlike this industrial strength build.

Haha. I'm always surprised when they come off cleanly. I've had no issues with durability as of yet. The biggest complaint I've had is that it takes a lot of bands to build up a high amount of resistance, but that's not isolated to just this build. The main way you'd see durability issues is if you kept tension on the bands when not in use, but most people don't do that with bands.

Of course. Ixion is a Shusky, half husky and half german shepherd. His mother as an all white husky and his father was an all white german shepherd. He's a loving and happy pup and he just turned 4 this year in May.

How long are the wood boards that the bench sits on, total length?

You’d want to build yours depending on your weight bench. But for mine the 2x6s were: 26.25 wide and 43 inches long.

Those Carabiners won't come loose?

They haven't yet, but even if they did it's unlikely the bands would slip out as the fit is rather tight.
