This is exactly what I’ve been looking for. I really appreciate the details about the leg measurements which accounted for the thickness of the table top when you made your initial cuts. I can’t wait to get started on mine. Your plans and detailed narration was a huge help.

Thank you so much for sharing this video with us. What I loved about it was that you tell us all the measurements for the timber etc., required to build it. There are a lot of good videos out there about building different things, but when we want to make the item for ourselves we don't have any plans or measurements to work from and if you are a learner DIY like myself it becomes all too much to guess these things. I really appreciate the trouble you have gone to, teaching others how to learn for themselves. Thank you once again and please keep sharing your great work with us.

Great video. I built this workbench last weekend. It's a good design, easy to build, and is rock solid. Many of the "budget" workbenches shown on YT use single 2x4's for the legs, but the 4x4's make this one very rigid, important since it sits on casters. Rolls easily in and out of the garage, just what I needed. Thanks!

Love the strength of 4x4 legs instead of 2x4s notched, staggered, and cut various ways. Also added some 3/8" carriage bolts on the corners because I move the table around a lot both inside and outside the house. The little extra money for heavy duty casters is well worth it if you'r going to be moving the bench around a lot. Simple easy, strong, and cheap. Love it!

At about 20 seconds I was loading up the criticism about all your expensive tools. Then you cheeped-out on the saw guide and got back n my good graces. This is one of my favorite bench builds. Seen some guys that build benches that could support their house. I'm not gonna throw a Cat C-15 on my bench. Well done young man! Just crazy how expensive wood is now. Can't build even a cheap 2x4 bench for under $100. I need to go dumpster diving for wood at local construction sites.

I really needed to make up my mind on what sort of work bench I wanted. I am just a weekend DiY-er and needed to make one so that I could try something more. After 4 days of watching DIY work bench videos, I think I will go with one. Castor wheels had a point for me. I have my workspace INSIDE the house. Yeah, I know its ridiculous. I was intended to for small weekend projects but now has been used for making so many things. With the wheels installed I can move it out in car parking and use that space.(cause I don't own car). Well presented video. I really appreciate it!

I just built one using half scrap wood, half newly purchased wood. I also sprung for the good casters. At the end of the project, it cost about $50-$60. I spent a fair amount of time planing the scrap wood and sistering two 2x4's together for two of the legs, since I didn't have enough scrap 4x4. Aside from that, the most time-consuming part was drilling pilot holes, counter-sinking, and driving screws. I'm really happy with the end result! Thank you for the vid!

I had a work bench on my list for about a year now and wanted a prebuilt metal table/tool chest, $400 Milwaukee table or a $70 custom built table made with your own blood sweat and tears is well worth any $1,000 table

Yeah I totally agree!! I've watched over 20 vids too and this one is by far the best one. Great audio, great editing, and he was honest about his mistakes! When it comes to building a workbench sometimes simplicity is the best way to go. Who cares if it has fancy mortise and tenon joints or if it has been stained to look pretty. Its supposed to be tough, sturdy and rugged!

I learned cabinet making and joinery from my grandfather and the very first thing I made was a workbench completely by hand with no power tools at all. And it was made from merchant timber which mean everything had to be planed down square by hand. A custom table would cost a lot more than $1000 that is for sure.

Great simple idea.I Made two of these 8 ft long. Very sturdy and the bottom shelf holds a ton of storage(on wheels). One of these is currently holding quite a bit of 8 ft lumber on the bottom shelf for an upcoming project, which the 4x4's hold in place very well. Also mounted a 4 ft. 12 outlet Harbor Freight power strip on each bench on the underside.

Just finished building this workbench today. Fairly easy build as long as you don't live in high humidity Florida. But I got it done and most likely lost a few pounds as well due to sweating. Only change to construction was adding the 3 cross supports before adding the uprights. Made sure I was square and plumb. Used the exact same casters from Home Depot. The Wife likes it a lot and now I get to build a modified version of this for her craft room, Yeah!
