My 1st technical video which KZread recommended from watching a bike review and i LOVED ❤️💕😍it! I don't own any power tools so will probably have Home Depot do all the wood cuts but I'm EXCITED to give this project a try (going to cheat with making the french cubby and use a plastic 3 drawer Rubbermaid brand although I already miss not having that custom shelf spacing flexibility) Thanks for showing every step and not assuming anything. I would never have known to pre drill holes before trying to thread in the hooks or to drill plywood to avoid cracking. also the leveler thing is smart. I can't tell you how long it takes me to get a picture frame to hang evenly on my wall by only trying to eyeball it. Sincerely, your newest subscriber ;)

Great project. I did the same since we have 7 bikes. 3 are for my kids. I also made some angled shelves for them to grab helmets and shoes. Speaking of that. Time for a ride!

do you think this one is space saver too? kzread.info/dash/bejne/nKVh0MqYgbOfk6w.html
Just finished building. Quick tip: Don't just use the cheapest hooks you can find. It makes a diffrence! The large square ones sag alot which you need to account for. They also allow the bikes to slide around which throws off the spacing. The smaller curved ones seem to hold bikes in place just fine. Thanks for the video! 👍
Great video. I made a similar system for hanging my numerous bikes but didn't think to stagger the height of the hooks. The one useful addition I made was to make it so I could secure the bikes. I fastened another 2x4 at crank height. I attached rings to this 2x4 which lets me use cable locks to lock the bikes. It is super easy to unlock and remove whatever bike I would like to ride. While this will not deter a seasoned bike thief, it will certainly keep people from helping themselves when the garage door is open.

I used your idea/dimensions and added a few things. I did it with just a single 3/4” sheet of plywood and cut two longitudinal 4” pieces to build up the hook lines. I added stain and poly to match the garage doors. Thanks for the inspiration.

Not sure why it took me so long to think about looking here for a bike storage solution. Knowing you have done stuff with Seth I should have also known you may have something bike related for storage. I have been trying to come up with an idea to store my 7+ bikes in the least amount of room possible but still be able to get to them with ease. I am also renting so had been planning on building something free standing but at this point this is a way better solution and ... Spackle for the move/win haha. Thanks for this amazing video and I also love the shelf idea, only wish I had picked up the table saw someone was giving away last week. Looking forward to you and @Seth's Bike Hacks doing another video

LOL...I WAS wondering about the tear out on the plywood. I know you would not let that happen even with a "garage" project. I breathed a sigh of relief when you cleared that up for us. =) Great project you have given me an idea for the 6 bikes (sometimes more depending on how many kids friends are over) I have floating around my garage.

Thank you for the video. Just completed my own version today and it works great. With mountain bikes, I find you do need to be careful about scraping the tip of the hooks as the coating can come off. I am not a craftsman type by any measure and this only took me 3 hours to complete..including going to get the wood.

I know this is an old post, but this solution worked perfect for me. I just wanted to thank you for making this video, it took all the guess work out, and really helped.
Dayum. This is such an "elegant" solution (simple, efficient, etc.) and sooo much better than hanging our bikes from the rafters in our garage...(insert visual from a horror movie of a room full of hanging, rusty but sharp tools swinging all over the place).
Looks great! Cool design.

The lower part stays in place due to gravity, it doesn’t have any attachment points for the bottom.

Cool project! When I saw the thumbnail pic for your video and then heard you say "French cleat" I thought you cut the entire rail with a 45 degree angle for both of the pieces with the bike hooks, that would have allowed you to hang other cabinets/shelves or accessories anywhere along the length of that wall. Great space-savings, I may copy this for the many bicycles that my kids, my wife, and I have!

Could you do 1 Rail system? You would have to flip the bikes on the hooks. Handles Bars Up and then Handle Bars downward. That way more room on floors ?

Hey, first one of these that I think is well thought out because you arrange the bikes in two rows. Could you have combined bike-hook with a french cleat system? Like ... screw hook into piece of wood and then hang that piece onto the cleat?
Thanks for a great video. A bit cheeky, but I'm only looking to store one bike: where did you find the white-orange bike wheel clip on the wall that you had to start with?
Awesome 👏
Excellent home project 👌...thanks very much
Great video! I just don’t get the purpose of “safety screw” Is it supposed to go through the dowel? 1:51
