    @@HideandHygge It turned out great! I looked at your Etsy store afterward, and it looks like you have made a few refinements but overall, this will get me through the beginner art course I'm taking and I couldn't be happier. What a wonderful product you sell and I so appreciate that you shared the making of it with us!

    Looks good, great job. I'm not a fan of toggle bolts though. A better idea is to find two studs and bridge them with a small board, then use the bridge as an anchor point. Many houses in the USA have studs only 16 inches apart. Too many things can go wrong in a toggle bolt installation, especially if you will be stressing it long term.

    That's awesome if that is what you want to do. You can really install however you'd like, I have never had any issues with the toggle bolts myself!

    Question about your build: Why did you use dowels? More than half this video was just making holes for them... You had obviously already glued the blocks to the back anyway...

  • @HideandHygge

    @HideandHygge

    It adds another layer of adhesion. It's unlikely, but if you were to ever drop the easel before installing, the back blocks could sheer off. I really love the look of the dowels on the finished product too. Thanks for the question Chris!

    Made two for my studio a little different than this. Only part that sucks is that the adjustable top and bottom portions don't hold the canvas tight enough and they slip forward and fall

    My newest design has a strip of rubber on the risers for hardboard panels. The rubber nuts I use on the outside will extend outward to hold the canvases extremely still. My large 78" Easel holds my extra large 6 foot tall and 6' wide canvases. I can be pretty aggressive with my larger brushes and there is very little slack! Amazon has some rubber strips that may help hold your artwork in place!
