Since it has a been a year now, how have they held up? Are they stable? I want to do this but I'm afraid the extra height will make the couch unstable somehow....I thought about adding two extra legs in the center for more support.

So I have to be honest with you. Once a heavy person slept on the couch, the legs broke. With the height of the legs and the amount of weight that will be on the sofa, we have to be really careful. If I used thicker legs, the sofa would have been more stable.
