What I found really useful for carving out the indentation for magnets is a hot knife. Press your magnet on the foam as normal, but then take the hot knife and melt a circle as deep as you need it. This removes the step of having to make an extra incision underneath to remove the foam. It's neater too.

That sounds great but I sometimes avoid the hot knife because of fumes in a tight space but I will try it eventually.

Nice video. I’m in the middle of making a large one. Did a great job on the first two walls but messed up the brick pattern on the third. Used to much paint too. Oh well. Gonna get a hot glue gun today perhaps.

It’s xps foam, foamular pink insulation foam from Home Depot. It comes in big sheets, this is the 1” thickness

Break away blade can be found at any hardware store or big box store. Magnets I usually get at the craft store, you want the black ceramic magnets not the silver ones
