DIY #7 | Floating Entryway Shelf with Drawer
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
Hi, this time I made a floating entryway shelf for my friend's house.
And here are some thoughts after this project.
I had done waterfall miter joints with a table saw when I made my desk, but in this video, I tried another way to make hidden miter joints with a router. Although it needed time to set up, it worked great. (thanks to the wood whisperer)
When I glued up the miter joints, I used sacrificial blocks for clamping (clamping cauls? blocks?). In the video I saw, they removed the clamping blocks with a chisel and hammer. I followed them and... the block pulled out wood fibers. I had to use my hand saw and then remove the remains with a chisel a little by little. If you use this clamping method on Oak, I do not recommend hammering clamping blocks to remove them.
Instead of buying a mounting bracket, I made it out of plywood with dowels, and it was much sturdier than I thought. I will definitely use the dowel method again when I need to make more floating brackets.
Thank you for watching. See you soon!

Well said.
I especially like the dissimilar gaps in the design (thin space between each drawer front and wider space between the drawers and the top/sides) -- simple and clean, very nice.
great to see you posting again, we missed you

Ohh welcome back to woodworking ❤️❤️
Absolutely gorgeous. And exactly what we need for our entryway! If only I could channel your exacting craftswomanship. I could never match those tolerances! Love the continuous grain drawer fronts!
What a beautiful build and video. Loved all of the care you took with the detail work; I felt like I came away with some tips just because of how you featured them.
Love it, man, this is what I'm looking for to put under my wall mounted TV, just so I can put my sound bar on top and put the wires behind it. Beautiful job.
Beautiful work! The music and the framing of the video are a perfect match! Very nicely done.
Love it! And the video is an EXPERIENCE as whole - perfect for "zen" break at work, with hot tea and brownie....
Perfect!

👏🏻
Gorgeous piece and fantastic craftswomanship. I love working with white oak. I think it's a bit underrated, but I love the natural finish. Also, love the router set up for a domino alternative. I need to build myself that jig! Do you have a video on how to build that jig? Great job overall!
Is this really your 7th woodworking project? I've been woodworking on and off for a few years and happy when I cut things straight! Lol.
It's too small for a mukbang but I loved the project anyway, great work as usual! Curious, would you ever try hand cut dovetails as your joinery one day? I think you'd make great ones. Thanks for another great video, be safe!

Thanks! I really want to try hand-cut dovetails someday. Before that...I need to buy a good chisel set hahaha
점점 닉값을 못하고 완벽해지시는데 큰일이네...
Nice job, do you have a work bench?
Can some one explain how she slid the shelf into the bracket when the drawers are in the way.?
Beautiful work! By the way what finish did you use on the shelf?
