These [OEM iridium] spark plugs will last 100,000 miles or a bit more. If you're concerned about them "sticking" or getting stuck in a little bit of copper anti-seize on the threads will go a long way. Not too much anti-seize because it's not good to have it in the combustion chamber/cylinder. Your old plugs, at 50,000 miles could have been cleaned with a propane torch, burning off any deposits that they may have had. Obviously, if you do this technique don't have flammable material nearby. I hold mine with long pliers with gloves on over concrete as I use the flame on the torch to burn off deposits. Let them cool before reinstalling.

I cant seem to remove the caps (that are attached to the wires) i tried for half an hour they would not budge... any recommendations?

I could be wrong but that looks like more than 15 ft/lbs of torque

Can I hand tighten it with a socket wrench or must it have 15ft/lbs?

The 3rd and 4th Ignition coil from the left hand side is very difficult to unscrew....

you're using 8 or 10 inch extension to remove 10 mm but I tried 6 inch and it doesn't fit and with 3 inch extension something in the way to loosen the lug nut from 3rd spark plug from the left

Just wanted to say thanks. I got my dad a Prius like yours and it's a new car for me to work on. I'm very familiar around Hondas n Scions and now you've made it that much more easier for me to do this newer car I'm kinda scared of lol. Love your videos they are straight n to the point on a very great pace. Do you have one on changing the gaskets?

Thanks for watching! Prius C are very easy to work on. I don't have one on changing the oil gasket, but I'll keep it in mind for future videos.

What is the gap?

I have a 2016 Prius C - when would you recommend replacing the ignition coils?

Good question, I know spark plugs are recommend at 100k. I did mine at 50k, but as far as ignition coils are good to go unless they have cracks or you get a code.

Did you experience any difference after the swap in terms of fuel economy and power?

I think maybe just a little better MPG but not much difference. I just feel better knowing that I am taking care of the car.

Nice job. Understood you are changing them preemptively, but just wonder it should be done later? Prius C maintenance schedule says 120k miles. Actually Toyota regular cars (such as Corolla) with the same type of spark plugs call for 12 years / 120k miles schedule. Since Prius C runs the ICE intermittently, it seems reasonable to change them even at a higher mileage, probably double the mileage you have (140 - 150k)?

Thanks, yes they do recommend changing them at 120K. But I just wanted to do them earlier so the car runs a little better and they're fairly cheap. I think you should be alright changing them at 120k.

I agree to do them earlier than later. Mine have 100000 miles and I am about to get it done. Nice job and video. I am about to change my transmission fluid the second time. Have you think about change the water pump at 120000 miles even though nothing wrong with it? Because I hear once the water pump not working and it’s going to hurt the engine right away.

Local shop wants $180 for labor for this job
