DIY $10 Market Display Stand Tutorial 🌸 How I display my art prints and products at art shows

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

I've been using these foam core stands for the last 6+ months without any problems! They're lightweight, sturdy, and really affordable to make. I tried to make this tutorial really clear (especially for number challenged artists like myself) and you can adapt it to whatever materials you can find. The pattern is pretty straightforward!
I've used these stands for my art prints, greeting cards, and other stationery products without any issues. You can easily clip or tape on signs and other decorative elements if you want to make them fancy.
🌸 Materials:
- 2 sheets of foam core (20 x 30 inches each)
- hot glue gun and glue sticks (I used 3)
- exacto knife
- ruler, yard stick, measuring tape, whatever you have
- markers or pencils
- painter's tape (optional but helpful)

Just made 3 of these for my market! A tip for people, you can get a poster print for 20x30 at Walgreens. They run photo deals often. Got one for $12 and glued it to my board and cut it to be an organic shape. Worked a LOT better than my home printer and didn’t have to get it to line up perfectly

This is fantastic and SO well explained. Thank you! I'm going in 4 days to my very first art fair and after panicking about how I will display my work I finally found something I like, I can afford and I feel confident I can make myself. Big love from Buenos Aires.

A super easy way to weight down light items like this is to tape a couple of tabs on the back side that you can place sand bags on. Sandbags are easy to make using packing tape and ziplock bags - I like the 1 gallon bags. Just cover the bag in the packing tape for reinforcement and durability, fill the bag with sand, and place on whatever needs holding down. If you want to get really fancy, cover the bags with fabric. Either plain or covered, the bags tend to lay flat for packing, and can be stored under your car seat between shows.

This is so helpful!!! Just starting to do markets with my art so this is a great cheap way for me to display prints and get going at a lower cost but definitely like that they’re light and I don’t have to cut/lug around a plywood stand. Will definitely be making a sign too, so professional!

Thank you Rebecca, this really helped! I have greetings cards, so needed it smaller. I basically put your sizes into cm, so that was easy ( less math!) and then I had to add 40% to every cm measurement and it fits large square cards and 4 regular sized cards, with 3 levels. I can fit 4 cards deep, including their plastic protective bags. I have 55 greetings cards in this little stand! I made mine in cardboard as I have tons of it and used the best quality box that was shipped to me with a large craft supplies order. Hope this helps if anyone wants to resize. Going to use my cricut to decorate and used large wooden dowels for the little stoppers at the front. They just slide into little holes to keep cards from falling forward.😁😁

Wow, Rebecca, it's amazing to see that you handmade your marketing display. As a factory that mainly targets building marketing displays, I know how hard it is to make it by yourself. After seeing your display, I would like to share with you some tips that I have acquired during my 20 years in the display industry. Firstly, in order to make it more stable and stronger, as you will take it to shows once a week and it needs to fit in your car, there are two things you can do. You can add a few PVC clips to the display edge or use your glue to cover the edge. This will protect the display from moving and also prevent your fingers from getting cut. Secondly, you can use the "mortise and tenon joint structure" to make the boards connect to each other. It will have more stronger structure. In addition to foam board, you can also use cardboard and rubber bands to create a pop-up display that can be folded flat. When you need it, you can simply unfold it and it will pop up as usual. If you're interested in learning more, please feel free to contact me, I can give you the diagram (without telling my boss, just kidding)🤣

Brilliant!!! Thank you so much for sharing! This could be modified and used for so many different items! I sale handmade leather goods and plan to use this stand for the passport holders and porfolios that I make instead of purchasing high price stands. For outdoors, one could make a bottom tray on the backside and add some weighted material such as sand in containers to keep it stable.

Thank you Rebecca, this was perfect. I’m looking for a stable shelf display for my cards and this should be perfect. Your measurements and the diagrams the way they are laid out make it easy to scale down. I was also thinking of doing slightly more than a right angle, so the displays angle back on a slight slope. I was also wondering about adding an extra panel, cut in the stepped design, to glue to each side on the inside back for reinforcement. Not sure if I’ve explained it well. If I do that, I will tag you on instagram so you can see it.

Hi! I tried looking it up too but couldn't figure it out! I think the most likely places you could ask would be art supply stores or office supply stores... it's often used for presentation boards or as a base for mounting images. But certainly you could use other materials like wood! It would definitely be more wind-proof that way. Thanks for watching :)
