I think it's better that they acquired it and keep it as it was, instead of turning it into factories, resort, or condominiums. And mind you, 90% of those will go to charities. You have to ask yourself, Why would either of them release intimate personal information about their relationship to the media? They could just as easily tell the world, "we have decided that our futures don't lie in the same direction so we have decided to formally end our legal relationship and pursue other activities that make us both happy." Ive been saying that for about 5 years now. And I wouldnt be a bit surprised to find that Bayer is also a huge investor in that same group. Bayer bought out Monsanto for a reason. Monsanto all but bankrupted India and other 3rd world country's small land owner/farmer's, quite literally, killing generations of family farms and families, leaving them penniless with nowhere to go and nowhere to turn for help after 4 or 5 years. Many families had to leave the land they had farmed for hundreds of years turning over their land to, you guessed it, Monsanto. So If my instincts are right, Bayer and Bill now own an awful lot of farm land in the world. Which of course means that they and they alone are in full control of what will be grown AND, more importantly, who will get it. And you gotta know, they wont be going hungry

Owning a lot of land requires property management and has a lot of costs and taxes to go with it. I wouldn't call this ownership a tax write-off. That has to cost hundreds of millions in upkeep, dealing with local governments, having a large entourage of lawyers and financial managers, etc. I don't think the Gates are trying to get away with anything.

I'd bet my last paycheck that same wish has been wished for thousands of years or more. That's not to say the end isn't just around the corner, but even as a betting man, I wouldn't gamble on it. One can hope regarding the end of greed and dishonesty, but regarding greedy dishonest folks, it's as Jesus said, "Let the one without sin cast the first stone" ;)

I think they are good people and it makes me sad. I was married for 24 years and then my husband wanted wanted a different life. He is now married to his third wife and still an unhappy man. I get that some people can't make marriage work. In my 25 years of marriage I often wondered if I/we could make it work. Looking back and looking forward, I'm grateful for what we've accomplished together and am eagerly looking forward to what the future might hold, knowing good and well either one or both of us can screw things up. In the end it's up to us as individuals. It's not really so cut and dry as some make it out to be.
