The husband demanding an apology for the lady who asked her mom for post partum help is a controlling nightmare. Even if you leave every other part of the story out, even the baby, it is NOT okay for him to demand she stay away from her own mother just to please him. The old “someone’s on their way with cash” is such bullshit and I can’t believe he fell for it! If you want to figure out if a sales person is lying- ASK FOLLOW UP QUESTIONS. “Who is coming” “from where” “can you call them” “did they sign intention paperwork?” Even good lairs can be tripped up if you ask enough questions.

The fact that they kept it under wraps for so long because they feared if an emergency popped up they’d withdrawal money and never replace it 🥲. He is SO right and moral. The siblings absolutely should give it all to the brother for college. The little brother will ALWAYS remember that they worked so hard to give him a better life and WHEN (not IF) he is successful post college he will make sure to take care of his whole family. I can actually answer the tear vs cut question…we discussed this in my anatomy/physiology class for nursing. If you think about it on a microscopic level… if you cut through skin or tissue with scissors…you’re cutting cells clean in half, ignoring how they’re adhered to one another. But if you tear…the skin will tear in a pattern where the cells naturally want to separate from one another …leaving more cells intact over all. And it’s easier for two separate cells to re-approximate than for numerous singular cells sliced in half to mend. I don’t know if that makes sense. It just surprised me to hear you guys discussing something that so vividly stuck with me from that class. Weird

The bronco story... My grandpa put 20k into a college fund for my siblings and I. We were always told that we'd get it when we turned 18. My oldest brother got his and spent it on whatever he wanted. When I was 16 my mom said that we needed to put our money that my grandpa saved for us towards property that she wanted. It was on 9 acres. Her plan was to buy it, "give" us each 2 acres and we would all build houses on it and live together. I never wanted to live there but she took my money without my consent. I also never got the land that she promised me. She said since I never cared about it, that she was only going to deed the land to my brothers and not me. Anytime I'd ask her about my portion that went into it, she'd say that I didn't even put that much into it because my money had "depreciated". Anyway, fast forward to a couple months ago my dad finally told me the truth. He and my mom convinced my grandma (my grandpa had passed away by this time) to send the 20k to them so they could have it in the bank where they were so they could distribute it to us when we came of age. My dad told me that they took all of the money and bought a timeshare with it. I remember them going on vacations, but I never knew how they were able to afford it. After they got out of the timeshare, they bought the property with what was left and then got a loan for the rest.

As a child of divorce, I highly recommend getting one if you’re in a toxic relationship. Your kids will do better and as a parent you will do better. Not to say divorce didn’t fk me up, it did, but that was because I had immature parents (they were young) who handled it badly and back in my day, divorce was so taboo. Things are different now. I’m so so glad my parents divorced. My step dad is like my dad and my bio dad and step dad are great friends, he comes to all our family events and even joining us all for Christmas. Plus every year, all my parents and all the kids from all the marriages have Easter together. We’re one big happy mixed family. My step mum was a monster, but dad ditched her years ago, so all good there.

The sex toy one - I believe that he doesn't know why it made him angry, cause the real cause is likely that he's insecure about his size and/or technique, but realizing that would require some honest self refection and it's clearly not his forte. The kids are an easy emotional scapegoat and excuse for him to latch onto - and yeah, his reaction definitely makes him the one that needs to grow up. Also, the only thing that'll emotionally scar the kids if they do find it, is the parents reaction. Act cool and the kids wont know a thing. Act like it's a big deal and you'll make it one.

First of all husband is definitely the asshole no discussion. Denying her support after a birth is so ratchet. And for me it also sounds like he’s trying to isolate her. That being said, I want to point out that most chronic health issues come in episodes and don’t make you need help every day. I’m living with an auto immune disease and most of the time I live a totally normal life. But every now and then I have really bad flare ups. I also moved closer to my family again to have somebody I can ask for help without being ashamed. It’s difficult to be an adult who sometimes can’t even buy their own groceries or clean their home. Especially when you’re young people can be sooo judgmental so it’s important to have people you feel save around. And I really like my in-laws but I still prefer to have my own parents around when I’m at my worst. To put it in a nutshell, please don’t ask how bad can your illness really be just because someone has a good episode and eg can go on a business trip. Again not advocating for him here, but chronically ill people in general! :)

The story about the mom and the baby... I can understand to an extent how awful it would feel to know other people met your child before you, because I was in a similar situation. When I gave birth to my 1st child, there were some complications, and she had to immediately be rushed to the NICU, so my husband went with her. My mom went in later that evening, as well as my sister to be with her. 2 of my uncles also put their hands on her that night, to give her a blessing 🙏 (I'm not religious, but spiritual, and it was comforting) anyway, other than hospital staff, at least 5 family members got to meet, and or gold her before I even laid eyes on her. I don't resent them AT ALL, and in fact am very grateful that she had so much support when she needed it. But, it was also heartbreaking 💔 what made it worse was my husband sent out a picture of her in the scale, with her stats (which I approved) to his mom, 3 aunts, and grandpa. One of his aunts thought it would be appropriate to POST THE PICTURE ON FACEBOOK! Before I even held my daughter...... But anyway, this story is different in the sense that her husband is completely hypocritical and selfish. I have no doubt that if the tables were turned he would be seeking help from anyone and everyone. The fact that he can't extend that courtesy to his wife is fucking gross

The story of the husband cheating on OP with her mother literally turns my stomach. I’m not a counselor, but I did my undergrad in psychology because I originally intended to go that route. In my opinion, the mother sounds extremely immature, and is likely a teenager emotionally. I think her flirting with OP’s boyfriends and sleeping with her daughter’s (at the time) fiancé is probably her competing with her daughter. She’s most likely jealous of her youth and insecure about her own desirability. She may even resent that she had OP, and/or lacks the ability to put her child first. Good chance she has a personality disorder (borderline or narcissism).
