Divining / Dowsing For Groundwater & Drilling a Bore Well

Using L-Shaped Rods for Water Divining isn't something we'd normally be out and about trying out, but after this experience we both learned that there is definitely something to this ancient art.
Join us as we look for Groundwater after some guidance from a professional Diviner with decades of experience, and see the rods do their magic.
In the end we'll share if we were successful at finding groundwater, and you'll also see us dowsing in the exact spot where the bore well was drilled, to demonstrate the kind of reading that the professional diviner followed in determining where to locate a bore well.
For those less into 'magic-like' methods for predicting where groundwater is located, we'll also show you an overview of the Australian Groundwater Explorer database by the Bureau of Meteorology that can also help you gain an idea for the likelihood of your area having a ground water source.

    Been using coat hangers for years to locate water and sewer lines. Trips me out every time, as it often works.

    Unreal aye, our rods were made from free wire from a 10 pack of star pickets

    Thanks for tuning in 🙂 will get the next vid out as soon as we can, ours was a bit unusual so you'll see some challenges you can run into while drilling

    I noticed the rods worked opposite with you both. I wonder if one of you is more susceptible to static shock. I get the cross over when I do it. If you zigzag your entire block, you might find paths crossing at different levels. That's the place to drill. You can also pick up stormwater and water pipes and underground power and it works through concrete as well if you are looking for under floor wiring.

    It does seem like a small number of people are better than most others. We saw one video on KZread where in the comments someone told a story of their school doing divining experiments and while most kids did good, one kid was 100% successful 100% of the time, everyone was stumped lol Apparently they also used to do this in actual creeks to find aquafers underneath them, then drilled down to drain the creeks into the aquafers.. probably not a good practice for environmental purposes but interesting to know

    I've seen divining used so many times over the years and it's always worked, congratulations on the new bore!

    Yeah the rods really do move on their own.. and some spots seem to have way more water than others. Since drilling the well, the level of our water jumped up by 20 metres! Seems to be a good source. If you need water you can get a fill up here lol, after we check with the lab quality of water

    How much does it cost to drill a bore

  • @offgridcitycouple5695

    @offgridcitycouple5695

    We'll break down the cost in the next vid, but the business we went with in northern Rivers charged $187 per metre drilled, including the PVC pipe casing. Then there's $800 establishment fee. So it's not a cheap exercise and depends entirely on the depth you go, generally bores are deeper than 30 metres

    How do you make these divining rods or do you need to purchase them

    We just used some steel wire that we took off a 10 pack of star pickets so they were free and all we did was use a hammer on a wood stump to smooth out the dents. Then you just bend it into an L-Shape. I found the thinner wire was better as thicker wire was heavier and slightly offset the pull with it's weight. You can buy them too, I saw some on eBay for $30 and professional ones probably cost more. The type of metal doesn't seem to matter though, and these free ones worked super well

    that's the thing, there's no definitive way to find out until you drill.. it is a gamble and divining just improves the odds.. and the groundwater database by BOM helps a bit too
