Diving Into East West's Hollywood Fantasy Orchestra

East West have recently released their Hollywood Fantasy Orchestra series, geared towards Medieval Fantasy styles of music found in projects such as Game of Thrones, The Witcher Series or The Tudors. In this video, I take the library for a test drive, walking you through the instruments/patches I used for the short piece I've written. I highly recommend the library, particularly if you are a video game composer, or have a keen interest in writing fantasy music!

Quality composition Simon. Complemented by a beautiful sounding library. The baked in reverbs work really well in this library to add to an authentic atmosphere without overwhelming everything. That whistle! The choir is also really subtle.

Its an excellent software. Also - if you're keeping an eye on Fantasy Orchestra, EWQL is always doing excellent deals on their software: the week of Black Friday is a good time to look out for for the best deals, but throughout the year I've found that they regularly drop prices by up to 60% and more on some packages.
Very nice overview. Would love the full tune audio track if you have that somewhere!

Excellent content as always Simon! Also Eastwest always surprising with its libraries. Do you know if these libraries and OPUS come with the cloud+ subscription? And in any case, what do you recommend more, the subscription or buying the Hollywood Fantasy pack?

Hollywood Fantasy Orchestra and Hollywood Orchestra Opus Edition both come in our ComposerCloud+ subscription, along with all 60+ EastWest collections. But of course you can buy any of these titles as well if you prefer!

I already seen and used "9 Hollywood chord progressions for 9 different Emotions" but now i need more!...I would like to see another video from this channel listing chords with their emotions. more epic-ness preferred.
Is anyone using this in Reason? I have had problems in the past trying to run East West products in Reason. Though recently I bought Hollywood Choirs and that was good. Any advice would be appreciated Jim

I have been hired to compose fantasy music. They can't afford a real orchestra and a full range of medieval instruments. A few days ago I saw EW fantasy library and was thinking going for it for the job. You have convince me! 😊 I know a few musicians who will be able to sweet the music. I know a professional musician specialized in medieval instrument but having EW fantasy to fill up the rest is amazing!

You don't need to buy it. Opus (which includes Fantasy Orchestra) is $19 a month on subscription from EW Composer Cloud, and you can turn the subscription on and off, month by month. So, you could probably get away with only paying for a month or two, while you do the job.
