when you were swimming with the dolphins, how deep were you in the water (5 m, 10m, 15m, below the surface)..? Do you think they allow beginner divers to swim / dive with the dolphins, or do you have to be an experienced diver..?

Hi. I dove with 6Passengers in July 2017. The dolphins live just outside Tiputa Pass, but also enter the pass. As a diver, you would be in 15-20m when you're dropped off just outside the pass. If you're lucky, the dolphins will come by to play, especially if Pitou is with you. (They know him well!) My friend only had about 10-12 dives when we went and he was fine. I think the only things that a beginner should be prepared for are: 1. The boat isn't that big (bumpy ride) and requires a fall back entry, which may be new for beginners. 2. The dive is a drift dive, which means after seeing the dolphins, you'll be entering the pass along one of the walls. You should be good with your buoyancy since the current varies with depth. Stay at the same depth as the Instructors and DM's and you'll be fine. 3. The dive is about an hour, so you should be good with your air, though they do have 15L tanks, along with the standard 12L. Before the dive, I would tell 6Passengers your skill level and they'll accommodate. It's definitely a worthwhile experience!
