Yeah, we loved that as well. It was a manytooth conger. So cool to see a blue eel. Love those night dives!

The turtle at Tolo, reminds me, I shot well over 20 minutes of video of a turtle eating AND, the funniest thing was, I got video of it pooping TWICE! I laughed like a 10 year old boy! When we got out of the water, I said, "I think I just shot a turtle documentary!" I watched it eat for the longest and it even scared up a scorpion fish. Counting the days until I'm back.

Not sure if/how you add meta data to your clips to find them more easily later, but we have a wide variety of "odd" tags. In the Behavior category, we have pooping. It is where sand comes from after all. :-)

Love your videos.. great quality and narration you dont wast time trying to be a comedian or of lots of selfies. Thank you for always identifying all species of fish and corals. I got certified in 80’s havent dove since the 90’s lots of snorkel trips. Wish I could get certified again but its way too expensive now days

Thank you Christine. We're a bit camera shy, so relatively few talking head shots (e.g., selfies). Plus we like the anonymity. Glad you like the creature ID as well. Hope you get the opportunity to recertify, but snorkeling can be just as fun! :-)

Bonaire booked for Christmas 2024!! Cant wait! are those up close shots of the shrimp done with the iPhone or the GoPro? amazing as always!

Thank you for the kind words Big V! All underwater shots this year have been with the iPhone 14 Pro Max in the HotDive H2 housing. The early stuff in 2020 and 2021 were mostly GoPro, but even with Backscatter's MacroMate and Polar Pro's Switchblade, I wasn't happy with any close-up shots; hence the switch. I am really hoping Apple adds periscope lenses to the 15 later this year as that should have even better optical zoom. 2024 is a long way off, but ping us when you get here is you want to dive. :-)

Great video as usual. Do you guys live on one of the islands? I see a lot of videos from Bonaire and curacoa.

Thank you John. Everyone needs a hobby, no? :-) We became official residents last month. That said, we'll be renting for a while as the house building will like take 18-24 months...depending on weather, supply chain, permits, etc.

Like this best of. Beautiful footage. I am not sure about the octopus. Is it a common octopus or a caribbean reef octopus?

Thanks Enrico. I am certainly no marine biologist either. :-) That said, I went with a couple of things from the reef books. This one doesn't have bulging eyes like the Caribbean reef octopuses do and the suckers don't have dark rings which seem consisted with the common octopus. Let us know if something points the other way, though.

@@TropicLens you could be right though. Sometimes those common octopuses have longer tentacles and they're showing their skin with all kind of tiny bumps etc. But what do i know. Its beautiful footage that counts

I love the videos, it makes me want to go back to Bonaire, much love from Brazil! But in the start of the video the turtle seems to be a loggerhead turtle and not a hawksbill.

Thanks Pablyyx! There's just something terrific on every dive. Regarding the turtle, algae was covering much of the shell, so we used the head for identification. Typically, hawksbills have two pairs of plates between the eyes, whereas loggerheads have three plates between the eyes. That said, if you saw something that points the other way, let us know. We love to learn new ways to identify sea life.

Awesome! Welcome to the island!

Bonaire is experiencing Stony Coral Tissue Loss and almost all sites are seriously contaminated… lots of bleaching going on all over the dive sites. Strongly advise everyone to first update yourself on the current status because the situation is bad… really really bad…. Drastic measures are being implemented, several dive sites already closed…. Inform yourself before planning a trip to Bonaire.

@@TropicLens - Best to check the Stinapa site to stay up to date. At the moment only 5 or 6 sites are with no concern and roughly 50 sites are with actively spreading the disease… (approximately 30 sites with advised caution). There are SCTLD guidelines like disinfecting gear after EACH dive…. What takes away somewhat the freedom of diving.
