Dividend Investing Strategy: Dividend Stripping (also called Dividend Capture)

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

In this video, I go over the dividend investing strategy called dividend stripping (also called dividend capture). I recently tried this method when I was moving around my stock market portfolio and thought you'd like to know how it was done.
Dividend stripping is a short-term investing strategy where you buy shares in a company for a few weeks just to get the dividend income.

    I really like this idea. Do you recommend using the same capital over & over or is that too risky?

    I'm new to investing. Would it be possible if you were to make a video about how you invest? Like you going to the actual site and the process one would have to do from start to finish? I'm not sure if there is personal information involved in doing that, or if its too tedious, if so I'd totally understand why it wouldn't be possible. On the side, your videos on investing have been the most non-confusing and informative ones I've been able to find online. I don't know if it's your style of speech or the fact that I don't feel like you don't treat being successful while investing as a big secret.

    Hi Tracey, I wanted to comment on your other video of 13 Top Dividend Companies in Australia. I was wondering where I could find this information in the same format if I live in the US. Maybe you could make a video on this. Thank you for this wealth of knowledge. We are looking to invest in high yield divided stocks in the next couple months.

    Nice Vid and channel Tracey.....you can earn up to $5000 worth of franking credits before the 45 day rule applies...... I use Divvy stripping a little bit and its a nice strategy as you say in a rising market, works best for stocks with a consistent divvy history and that have been trending up..... Of course Bill Shorten is probably going to mess that up for us if he gets in as Prime Minister....

    Im a daytrader. I'm tired up getting up through the night with the timezone here in Australia to do this. My solution is to use the dividend stripping strategy on ASX shares about 6 weeks prior to the ex dividend date to catch the run up & the dividend. I like this idea because I could return more than just the dividend payment & I could do this during reasonable hours as opposed to daytrading. Dividend stripping probally won't work during a falling market or during bad economic times so my question is what type of strategy can I implement when all ASX stocks are crashing or falling? Thank you so much.

    If share are invested in personal name, ATO allows for maximum $5000 franking credits to be claimed legally without having to hold the shares for 45 days.

    thx Tracey, im an Aussie also and have just starting trading. But , if i what for up to 60 days that only means 5% roughly every 60 days. is that enough return?

    Considering that your bank only provides 2.0% in 365 days, that seems pretty good. Figure out your brokerage fees (x2) and then make sure the amount you are gaining overcomes that, factoring the risk of falling share price, and the time and effort you invest.

    Hey Tracey is it profitable buying asx stocks about 2 weeks before the ex dividend date selling the day before the ex dividend date for a small capital gain & then moving onto the next one? Or do you recommend buying earlier & holding for longer?

  • @TraceyEdwards

    Why would you do dividend stripping rather than buy and hold dividend paying stocks?

  • @dezignateddriva

    @dezignateddriva

    its practically the same, except your small amount of capital can be used multiple times rather than passively waiting for the next dividend. If you are active and accurate enough your one investment amount can earn dividends on 4-5 stocks

    You don't talk about puts after buying? If you buy puts after you buy the stock, you will not lose any money when the price declines after ex-dividend date... That is the definition of dividend stripping
