Last school year, everyone was reading divergent. And so did both my brother and my sister. I picked up the book one day and read the first couple of chapters, but it didn't appeal to me AT ALL. Or so I thought. So I go around telling everyone that I don't like the book, that it's stupid, and a copy of the hunger games, which I attempted to read about three years ago, but as we'll, that didn't appeal to me either. So I missed a lot of school last week because I was sick, and when I get back on Friday, my English teacher hands me a pass to go to the library. He told me that while I was gone, everyone in the class chose a group, and a book they wanted to read. My friend, stuck ME in the DIVERGENT group. So I go to library and check it out and I'm absolutely dreading it. I didn't even want to read it and blah blah. I read only about twent pages on Friday, and didn't read it for the rest of the weekend. So on Monday, my friend who's in my group tells me that I'm supposed to be on page 103. And so I read like crazy when I get home and stop on page 109. And then yesterday, I COULD NOT PUT IT DOWN WHATSOEVER. My group was supposed to finish the book in the next two weeks. I finished yesterday. It was so amazing. FOURTRIS. So today, I decided that I'd watch the movie. I LOVED TO MOVIE TOO. The only thing is that the movie was really out of sequence but I liked the ending of the movie a little better than the ending of the book because it was more intense. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND BOTH THE MOVIE AND THE BOOK. 😍😍😍😍😍😍

I started re-watching the Divergent series last year and realized I saw it 10 years ago!!! Cant believe its this old. Shailene has been an idol of mine since Felicity

I just saw the movie and I must admit it was one of the best films that I have ever watched!

Well... there is more background. Especially on the knife throwing one. They literally released half the clip. There is some leading up to it.

I just saw the movie and it was AMAZING. It was definitely worth seeing it. The book was amazing also. I want to see it again that's how awesome it was.

I still don't get how Divergent & The Hunger Games are even close to being alike. I've read both trilogies and they are completely different. Divergent: About this experiment to study the genetically pure and damaged and to see how they live like. (I know spoiler from Allegiant) The Hunger Games: About a girl that volunteers for her sister to save her life and then this whole rebellion thing happens and spoiler, spoiler, spoiler. The similarities? The books both start with girls that are both 16 and are both dystopian kind of books. They're both really great books but Harry Potter & Percy Jackson will always be better. If someone compares the Maze Runner to the Hunger Games I will lose it on them =.=

I'm just going to clear something up. For people who say this is another teen book romance movie, read the book first and then you can have an opinion. Just because its set in the future doesn't mean it's exactly like hunger games. For anyone who hasn't read the books or doesn't plan on it, fine. But you can't judge this movie until you see it, mostly because you know nothing about it. The books are actually incredible. It's not just romance, but action and other things. People are such critics, god.

I imagined the dauntless HQ would be more.. dauntless. Cave-like structure with chasms, stalactites and stalagmites all over the place, like a revamped version of abandoned mine or something like that. But I have no issues with the city, it totally fits my imagination :D

the dystopian genre just makes it more believable for me. When I read the book, I pictured the outskirt of the city as the perfect location for the dauntless HQ. It is their duty to protect the borders of the city. That's why having an HQ on one of the outskirts of the city perfectly fits my imagination. AFAIK, the outskirts are mostly rural-areas and resource-exploitation bases, such as oil-well and coal mine, if not undeveloped. Therefore, those areas lack of skyscrapers. The biggest structure that can accommodate the dauntless are either the farms or mines. Farms as dauntless HQ will not offer them security of not being attacked from all directions. Because of that, they need to spend a big number of manpower in order to guard their own HQ. Not to mention to spend more resources in order to fortify their HQ. Therefore, choosing something like mine for their HQ put them in advantageous position. Single exit-entrance gate means they could spend fewer manpower to guard their HQ and the cave-like structure provided extra defense. Because of those, it would be far more feasible and cheaper for them to invest in a cave for their HQ so they could spend more in weaponry and vehicles. So sorry if this is TL;DR. I just like ranting so much xD

Hot dayum. Regardless of what everyone else is saying, I think they did a pretty lovely job with this. And yes, before anyone says anything to me, I have read the books like 10 times each. Shailene and Theo are wonderful, I don't see how anyone could say otherwise. And overall it looks pretty true to the book. I'm pleased.

It's weird seeing Shailene and Ansel here as siblings when they're a couple in TFIOS.. But anyway, I'm excited for both movies! :D

Divergent, I find, is one of the most rereadable series I have ever read. It is so easy and relieving to enter its world and its story along with the characters.

So excited! This book was awesome and I really hope the movie does too! We shall see soon...

Not very happy with this tbh. I wasn't expecting the movie to be THIS different from the book. I was hoping for it to somewhat stick with the plot. Tris wasn't told to choose a faction in order to hide her divergence.. It's like the story is only focused on the fact that she's divergent, which isn't what the book's about. The book's more focused on her finding herself, finding her place in Dauntless and the relationships she develops with others in the process. I guess they had to focus on her divergence to make the movie more interesting, but I still think they could've made a great movie by staying true to the book. Idk. I guess I'm just not into it..

I actually find that they have done so much to quote the book. They have taken it and made it more for viewing needs but it seems legit. The, "Fear doesn't shut you down, it waked you up" quote is directly from the book. In the clip he goes, "I want to be selfless, brave, honest, brave, and kind. I'm still working on kind." The book quote is a little more wordy but he basically said the exact same thing. They are keeping it like the book. And the book in fact talks a lot about her Divergence. Hence the name. I get what you're saying because the books are about her finding herself and who she is, and I think it'll do that. But for the trailer they needed to explain the movie better.

fault in our stars and divergent ... shailene woodley in both movies in completely different roles .... wow ! even I was not able to recognise her in Divergent after seeing fault in our stars ....

I expected to see more bruises on Tris :P she gets pretty roughed up.. I cannot wait for this movie!! I wonder if Shailene thought in advanced when she took the role of Hazel (the fault in our stars) because Tris *spoiler- not really* chops her hair off in Insurgent lol. Also in her last two movies she hardly wore any makeup, looks like she's barely going to be wearing any playing Tris (except like a bit of mascara, maybe some concealer and blush? Idk hard to tell here) apart from stage makeup of course haha. She's absolutely gorgeous!! Then going from Tris to playing a cancer patient in tfios she's on a mission :P, can wait to see how it plays out!!

Can't waaaaaait!!! It looks really good! Of course it's inevitable that some things will be different or missing comparing it to the books... but it still looks great!! Shailene looks awesome as Tris! However... WHY is she wearing obvious eye MAKE UP while she is still Abnegation?? Nonsense... lol

I think 'saarah0006' is taking that from something the director or summit said... I also recall reading that somewhere, that Uriah wouldn't be introduced in the first film even if he and other dauntless initiates do appear in the book... What a shame really =(

I searched him a while ago online and found out he hasnt been cast. hes supposed to get his own introduction in insurgent so i wonder how thats going to turn out (as long as they decide to make a ssecond film)
