Ditch Temu! 14 Cheap Tools On Amazon

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

After making my video on cheap tools from Temu, AliExpress and Wish, people had expressed concerns giving their sensitive info to these services. So I looked for some products that are there but now also sold on amazon. I started with 10 purchased products but Going Make sent me a bunch of items for free and honestly there are a lot of nice ones so I included them (full transparency)
1. Qiguch66 pocket hole clamp - $11.30 - amzn.to/3Tlp3iV

4. Vonzen Hand Jack - $7.99 - amzn.to/3P583uD
5. Goingmake corner clamps - $29.99 for 2 - amzn.to/49JBXgC

    Ditto! Just watched and subscribed. Love that you don’t go on and on about yourself and other repetitive stuff. YOU PREPARE. AND companies like woodPECKERS charge ridiculous amounts for their products. I couldn’t comprehend why it should cost so much, now I know it doesn’t have to, and I can afford some gadgets that would be helpful without feeling ripped off and angry. Thank you very much. Woodworking is expensive enough.

    Not specifically but it hasn’t been super on my mind. I’ve used them only one time and know that you have to use a 9/32 inch drill bit (at least the one I used) and I just checked the going make wouldn’t take that. I’ll keep an eye out! I just used the regular jig and then went back and re drilled but obv not the best solution

    This is a great video. The picture quality is far better than most and everything is easy to see due to the positioning of the camera. I found the content was very interesting, even though I wouldn’t use many of the tools reviewed. But I did watch it to the end because the presentation was done so well and its an interesting topic - things to look out for when buying such tools And thank you for not using music or trying to be a comedian. 10 out of 10 for this one. It’s only the second one that I have subscribed to though I’ve watched hundreds.

    I already have the small 3D square and the countersink that I bought direct from China. I actually use the 3D square quite a bit as it works well to scribe a perpendicular measurement to an edge that I can use to line up on the crosscut or panel sled. The countersink works well and does a nice job making a clean countersink on laminate. It does clog up a little from time to time, but worth the $37 difference from the pro tool. Never had a problem with a snapped bit. Thanks for the other reviews.

    Simple solutions to 2 of the tools. First one, the dowel centring jig. Scrap the bearings, they are only complicating the tool, simple friction pegs. Secondly, the 3d square, much like the overlooked scribe on a sliding combination square, the peg could simply thread into a dead space on the tool. Hope this helps. 👍🏼

    Awesome video, will definitely be adding some of these to my amazon wishlist. With the self centering dowel jig, wouldn't it be more stable if you had it rotated so that the ball bearing's are held up against the wood in the same direction that the drill bit is spinning?

  • @BitnerBuilt

    @BitnerBuilt

    Ай бұрын

    Thanks, I tried it in both directions, but just adding a ball bearing on there means that it has easy movement any direction. Some people had made the suggestion to use a punch or a Brad drill bit so it has that small little spike, that helps prevent wandering, even in normal drilling situations

    Justin, thanks a lot for good tools review and suggestions. Helpful as usual. About video quality and equipment... Well, not so good quality, but that's not because of bad equipment, but most probably not configured well. For instance, was a little blurry then it was as usual. Play with different configs. Unfortunately don't know which equipment you purchased, so no specific suggestions.

    Great video review (with really good video picture quality)~! ;-) I've been a frequent-flyer buyer from "big red" and I'll definitely be picking up some of the GoingMake products. I'm also a fan of the big blue label, but I like that European hinge jig. Since I don't own one yet, I'll be going for the one you showed. Thanks for this one~!

  • @BitnerBuilt

    Thank you for taking a look at these budget friendly tool options. On any of the tools that are meant to act as squares, did you evaluate them for square? Its great that the big t square is more than half of the red tool brand but is it as accurate? Thanks!

  • @BitnerBuilt

    Yes it is square! Sorry I kind of tried to run through the last few a little fast because I didn’t want to make it seem like it was the going make show! I always check my square especially long ones with the miter slot on my table saw, they are adjustable with the screws and came out flat and square 👍

  • @BitnerBuilt

    @BitnerBuilt

    2 ай бұрын

    Text thanks! Yes, I always check all of my tools for Square specifically at the table saw if you use the edge of your cast-iron saw top with your miter slot. It’s a great way to align along tool like that. When you assemble it, you put all six screws in loosely and then set it up at the tablesaw and then tighten it down so that you know that it is square, the bigger question will be how long will it maintain its square before being needed adjusted again, but it’s just you know the normal par for the course with things like your fence, squares etc.

    Just a suggestion on the self-centering dowel jig: always rotate it the direction the drill spins and you'll have less, or zero, movement. Those tend to move more if you're trying force it against the spin because the bit will grab it some and fight against you, so let the bit help by grabbing it into the same direction (rotate clockwise on the wood).

  • @BitnerBuilt

    Yeah, I didn’t want to make it the going make video, you know, since those things were sent to me. Yes, definitely thumbs up, all three squares. When I did set up at the table saw came out perfectly square and flat. I always set those up using the miter slot on the table saw so you can make sure that you’re perfectly square over the long distance, before you torque down the assembly screws.
